You should read the reports you link to rather than chiding others for not doing so -

The main counteracting force is from continuing increases in coal generation in south-east Asia, but demand from these countries is still small relative to the global total.

But I do read the link before I posted obviously you didnt instead you quote one link of "expected" coal generation which is already refuted by the link I posted showing a reduction in the area and a growth in renewables and the second link of the global total in 2018 forecasting a rise in 2019 only for my link to show a substantial decline.

Oh please do shut up up with your pathetic attempts at diversion. I said that increased CO2 emissions are partly due to developing countries burning more fossil fuels, a statement that was fully borne out by the article you linked to.

Your the one trying to divert from the facts or maybe you dont want to admit to the rise in renewables in emerging countries.

I saw in Sunday’s Times that Jeremy Clarkson claimed to have a Climate Change epiphany as the river he was trying to jet boat across was a puddle. No mention of the multitude of dams - Chinese and other - blocking the waterway.

Another interesting fact: China has produced more steel in the last two years than Britain has EVER done. Think about that Greta
If Greta visited China would she be detained in a re-education camp?

Clarkson is a tosser, but he is funny and usually honest.

The way things are going in the relations between US ,China and Russia the rise in global warming is the least of my worries. Our neuclear deterrent is even more important these days.Maybe it's getting near time to dust off those old civil defence plans. Don't laugh!!

What are her parents doing? Surely they should be guiding their daughter but it doesn’t look like it. The world knows about what mankind is doing to the planet and I agree more needs to be done to reduce the effect we are having, but therein lies the issue - us! There are too many of us at least in the developed parts if the globe! Greta is IMO being used by others with as a vehicle to have a voice that will always be listened too and this is unfair in her at such a young age. I think those pulling the strings should be ashamed of using such an approach.

There are FAR less of "us" in the developed world and those that are there have a decreasing population.

Quite the reverse in the rest of the world.

The UK has about 65 million people .. 8 million of which were imported in just 10 years.

The irony is that most of todays pollution in our oceans is TOTALLY down to "Do Gooders" who exported UK waste from landfill to the 3rd world .. where it's either dumped or burnt.

The fact is "Environmentalists" have caused MASSIVE harm not only to habits in their own countries (Such as the Somerset floods and now the Lincolnshire floods) but all over the world - and they are STILL doing it today by denying CO2 attributed to imports.

There you go, all the fancy protocols and green energy initiatives have failed, time to recycle the carbon that is already out there.
It does make you wonder doesn’t it, despite all the measures taken to reduce carbon it keeps on increasing, where is the extra coming from?

So we've had reports that as the world warms .. which is GUARANTEED given the fact we are coming OUT of an ice age - ie the Earth's orbit has changed the amount of energy from the Sun .. as the world warms perma frost regions will release large amounts of Methane & Carbon dioxide.

So these gases will increase .. but those gases are part of the life cycle so life (if allowed to grow) will increase and thankfully more people can be sustained.

Of course if the "Climate Change" lunatics put their money where their mouth was they'd be doing everything they could to revert desertification .. but they are just trousering money and pushing jobs into the 3rd world to make Billionaires very very rich.

A very valid point, one difference being that when we were at it there wasn’t the awareness that there is today. But worse, much worse is the hypocrisy of countries that preach about the lowering of emissions at home and the gains they are making then promptly import products from countries made in a way that they wouldn’t allow.
To my mind the hypocrisy of the developed nations is worse than the emissions from the developing nations.
There’s a cost to reducing carbon footprint but not many want to pay it.

I think "Carbon" has practically no effect on the Climate at all.

If Carbon did have the effect claimed by "Climate Scientists" then the Earth would have turned into a frozen ball when CO2 was 180ppm during each Ice Age (400ppm today) or roasted when CO2 was 8000ppm when volcano's were highly active in Russia.

Climate Science is a religion used to make the West poorer and make a few Billionaires both very very rich and very very powerful.

Think Corbyn on steroids.

No. The ice ages are down to periodic eccentricity and obliquity in the Earth's orbit; but... CO2 is an effective catalyst at any given time and does lead to a more rapid increase in global temp's. That's the point, it makes something that occurs naturally happen more and more quickly.

So it doesn't initiate much, but does have a huge effect on things and the current problem is anthropogenic.

Quite simply, as you state, we are treating our environment badly and it is down to the individual to do their bit. Population growth is not sustainable and nor is the rate of industrial development in the third world especially. I now drive a hybrid car to overcome anti diesel prejudice but I am not convinced that I am really making a net contribution. It is stuffed with Chinese lithium batteries to begin with..
There has recently been a sudden spike in methane production emanating from the wetlands of southern Sudan. Our environmentalists are restoring and increasing wetland habitats in a seemingly uncontrolled fashion. It really does not add up.
Who is going to feed the increasing population when the vegans get their way? Precious little edible vegetation comes from the 72% of the earth which is covered in water and man cannot digest grass, other than grains, and this is the worlds most populous plant species. Rice paddy fields are the worlds largest grain producers and are massive methane producers. Where do these lunatics come from? How do the people of the arctic and tundra survive on a vegan diet for instance or the people of the Asian swamplands deviate from a diet of rice and fish without creating food miles?

You continually repeat this same thought. As I have asked on quite a few occasions, the last being in the proper thread for such things (banjo's Global Warming one) at #2717 on 5th Dec which in part was

"I refer you to my post at #180 on this thread P9 regarding CO2 and Water Vapour (thus offering some response to your post #2138 as well as the one quoted) and my response to Bovrill regarding the works of several renowned scientists since Fourier. It is not rhetoric that CO2 forces temperature. If you disagree that CO2 is a forcer, and I know you do from several earlier posts, then, as I have also said on several occasions, you need to provide evidence that contradicts the works of these men. Without such evidence it is only your opinion against theirs. Nice a bloke as you may well be, I believe them."

Will you ever come up with any evidence to support your thought? Or will you just continue to say it without having any evidence whatsoever? Some other things you should find out about is when was there an atmospheric level of 8000ppm; how do ice ages end; what is the long term toxicity level and effect of breathing air with elevated levels of C02. I could easily add to the list, but hopefully you will change your mind after doing a little research. Please, when doing this at least read about scientists involved in work on C02 from Fourier through to Callendar.

Hybrids are little more than conventional cars with a big battery and some fancy braking. The trouble being that the big battery will add enourmously to the carbon footprint of the car's manufacture, so combine that with the fact that it will be running on diesel/petrol for most of the time then you are probably making things worse.
