Who decides the amount of luck the big-priced sellers are expected to give?

I was going to say that a new seller who gets a big price might feel a bit dismayed when the buyer holds out his hand. But a new seller is unlikley to get a big price until he becomes part of the ring.

PS. A Kerry Hill tup might make £200, but a bit of Kerry Hill in a crossing-type BFL can help it make £thousands. Why is that?

The cash-back is discussed before the sale.

Do folk actually think it happens in tups?
A near neighbour of mine went to a blue faced tup sale in north of England a few years ago.Might have been Hawes, can’t remember but he bought the top priced lamb that day at £4500. When he went round to pen after sale breeder gave him a cheque for £1500 to be made out to my neighbour’s wife. My neighbour couldn’t believe it as he genuinely was prepared to pay the £4500 for the lamb.

Maybe it happens more in the north of England with these dear mules etc. never seen it up here and have bought a few dear tups before. Must be missing out 😂
Quite a bit of back scratching gets done as well. Il buy a big price tup off you if you buy my top draft ewes. If you take my Leicester to 10k il take your Swale to 10k. All good for business and getting your name up the price list 🤷‍♂️

Good stock sells itself all that bollllooccks is just that - bollllooccks.
Anyone trying to pull a fast one from my experience, soon gets found out. Most people around ringside are able judges, when you see the quality of a genuine high price ram, you soon find out which (if any) ram is a set up. It would stand out a mile and does the flock more harm than good.

Why on earth would a genuine bidder try and buy a sheep or bull off a man who has a history of messing about? Talk gets about…
