step 1 , tell RT to fudge off

Step 2 notify your local authority you are home mixing , keep samples and reccord of your mix & crack on
Yes, very important to notify your local authority!

Be warned, it will put you into Trading Standards highest risk category for inspection. But this should only be every few years (up to 10 year intervals I think) and is essentially to talk through your mixing process and look at storage of feeds, to make sure you don't inadvertently mix in anything you shouldn't be.

From my experience, it's nothing to worry about. I was advised last inspection that I shouldn't of had a drum of Ad-blue next to my cattle minerals. Which was fair enough really.

Is this new
I home mixed for 50 years , never kept any records ,
I can remember tipping bags into a Bamford roller mill to at the end mixing 50 tone at a time against a walk with a loading shovel
We had to register with Trading Standards sometime after the millennium. Possibly a response to BSE? But in all honesty I'm not sure.

Easy mistake to make, I'm always giving my cattle adblue. Waste oil is another one, keep accidentally putting it in the troughs.

We were once told by a RT inspector it including things like minerals etc. He told us to say we didn’t mix them in as it saved paperwork. Unfortunately he retired a few years ago

We had to register with our local Trading Standards Office when we first bought a mixer wagon.

Top dressing or free access stuff is fine, no registration necessary.

As soon as it is mixed, i.e. using a mixer wagon to mix anything together, that's when you have to register. Or at least that's what we were advised back along anyway.

Registration as a home mixer isn’t going to stop an accident happening, there’s no need to register if you you don’t mix in minerals.

That’s what I remember.
A letter arrived this morning for a routine Farm and Feed hygiene inspection from the county council, I need to phone them tomorrow to say I only feed compounds and blends now.
