Hi all,

Just wondering what the above should be? We haven't grown wheat for 15 years and are a small dairy farm, so we just spread straight nitrogen but I'm out of touch as how much to put on?

Thank you in advance.

It will be dependent on a few factors...
Previous cropping
Soil type/location
OM applications
Winter rainfall
How the crop looks/growth stage
How many passes do you intend to make

In reality 40 - 80 kg N/ha depending on the answers to the above !!

If you want to get some on I'd start with a bag to a bag and half to start per acre. I still work in old money.

It was drilled on the 28th of October, its abit patchy but the bits that have germinated are looking well, so I would be ok spreading 185kg/ha of actual Nitram product then today?

What Fert type what type of land

i plan 100kg n as urea when it is dry enough the leeching risk is low heavy soil notill September drilled not a high risk of lodging
soil has very little after the heavy rain in feb and 480 mm of surplus winter rain average is 180 mm and last year was less than 100mm

Be more of a push on if it was winter barley.....some sick looking crops around here in Cumbria, if you're overly cautious with winter barley it's too late. Winter wheat gives you a bit more breathing space.

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
