How to fill a silage clamp. Newbie buckrake operator!!

I beg to differ - that travelling up and down the clamp is the best thing you can do - it means you are constantly rolling the grass. Every situation is different but on an Autumn block dairy unit consistency of feeding is paramount and if the clamp is filled in level layers then the analysis of the silage at feedout remains constant throughout the clamp.
As long as its spread in layers and rolled in to get the air out, its fine. Running over it a million times doesn't make any difference in my opinion.
Get to the required height by layering and rolling, final roll to finish then move forward.
Perhaps not that important in small pits but going front to back on large pits = more diesel and more machines that need to be paid for.

Man who used to buckrake for me would ring up and say stop and have a sharpen up for quarter an hour I need to tidy up he didn’t use the CB and nobody knew what was going on forager drivers and chip Basket man need to respect the buckrake driver
 
Yes. Indeed.. The closer flds will be at this rate but 3-4 an hour initially. However as I'm setting the pace the wagon may have to travel slower to give me more time..
Get him to do alternate loads from nearest and furthest fields if it’s coming in too quickly for you - ends up being far more time efficient if a bit more awkward sorting the mowing out.
Not always practical but worth thinking about 🤔😉
