Can land on anything over @ 250m long, providing no trees or obstructions
Landing fees usually @ £5
Loads of small airfields around
What part of Scotland are you in?

Can you kit it out to fly in misty conditions or is it next size plane up or different test
Microlights are VFR only
Have to have certain levels of visibility

Could move up to next level, something like a cessna 152/172 etc.
Then do Instrument flying course.
But a lot more expensive
Costs me £10 an hour + plus fuel
Could cost £100 an hour for a larger aircraft

The thing with microlights now is, from @ September last year the MOW was increased from 450kg to 600kg ( which is pretty much what a Light aircraft licence allows you to fly)
Our Skyranger microlight automatically went up from 450kg to 472kg with only a few bits of paper to fill in.
If we wanted then an uprated undercarriage would get us up to 600kg ( would cost about £2000 i think)
This young lady is showing what can be achieved in a Microlight

1st pic is Hurworth Burn Reservoir, our farm is just the other side of it, you can see the white splodge of caravans in storage
2nd and 4th pic is Raby Castle
3rd pic is Cockfield fell, think its old mine workings
5th is Thrislington quarry , one of many around our area
