There are some happy farmers around
This was on the North Yorks moors
Cold weather is great to fly in. Much smother and generally very good visibility. Just have to watch even more for icing.
yeh
I was up again today, fantastic flying weather, and C42 has a good heater and also hot water carb heaters as well
Wings are fabric so flap about a bit to keep ice off :ROFLMAO:

Making the most of the good flying weather.
Although it was fair breezy up at 4000ft, 120knts one way and 80knts going back

Passed a ctsw parked outside its hanger at weekend, stopped to talk to its pilot.
76 years young , he'd been all-over in his time
Czech Republic amongst others.
He said landing speed was critical, 50mph target , if 51mph it didn't want to land but if 49mph it wanted to land too quickly ie crash.
So 50mph or go around.
It was fitted with ballistic recovery, and he was using 2x ipads as instruments in addition to built in ones.
A really nice looking plane, and a great guy to chat to.

Lovely aircraft but expensive for what they are, although only been in one to fair
Landing speeds pretty critical on most microlights, mines 55knts
Ballistic recovery chutes were all the rage when they 1st came out, now a lot are getting binned, expensive to service every I think 5 years.
Should only really be needed if a mid air collision occurs, and then no guarantee it would work. And in a microlight they use up precious weight allowance

Nice to see another Pilot. I’ve not long returned from Poland as I was out there to do my Multi-Engine training, then EASA Commercial Pilots Licence. First time over there and really enjoyed it… even if I did spend 45 mins at one point at 1000ft looking at farms/countryside 😂

Never flown a microlight… not sure they’d carry my oversized carcass!

The newest Microlights are 600kg MTOW
Gives a good payload
Microlights tend to be a bit Lot more twitchy than GA
A stable approach in a microlight is not the same as the heavier stuff

I’m currently around 123kg and 6ft 3, so not sure how many I’d fit in.

I used to be staff at a Volunteer Gliding Squadron where we operated the Grob 109B “Vigilant” and max seat weight was 110kg. We had to wear a parachute which weighed 7kg, so the absolute max we could be was 103kg - I was just over that when I started so hit the gym and got down to around 98kg. It still limited the fuel so as not to exceed MTOW, but I could get up for about an hour… plus as it was a TMG, we could turn the engine off and glide extending the endurance if required.

I`m 105kg and 6`4"
Learnt in a Skyranger, but after about an hour legs started complaining about the lack of legroom
Now have my own C42 which has a lot more space. and 120kg seat capacity.
To be fair most microlights run overweight, we all just hope we`ve burnt enough fuel off before we crash to be legal again
Where are you based?

Your last sentence sounds like every C152 at every flying school 😂 I did my PPL in one - 2 people plus fuel… not a cat in hell’s chance it would be under MTOW!

A friend did his NPPL in a Eurostar which he seemed to like, but sadly doesn’t fly anymore.

I’m based in the Midlands, near Loughborough.
