I know where there's a load available for £295, I'll tell you on Friday afternoon if they're in lamb or not.Plenty available….as to selling for that..
They have been saying this keep going shyt for 40 years , if the prices doubled at the markets tomorrow the suppliers wouldGot a hay delivery last week and the bloke was telling me that he wasn't as busy as he was. Example he gave was a valley near Selkirk where he used to take 30 loads a year. He'd delivered two up there this time.
Things are changing but it suggests to me that those who are willing and able to keep cows and ewes should definitely keep going.
2021was a bad hill lambing , snow in may wiped out most of the grouse tooOn top of that Scanning down on most farms nationwide, a lot of ewes culled as prices were high, flocks packing up etc…
I know what I’m doing
More trees, dear fertiliser, labour issues etc etc. There will be less stock about and so prices must come up. Fertiliser suppliers are about to find there is a limit to what farmers will pay. They have been saying this keep going shyt for 40 years , if the prices doubled at the markets tomorrow the suppliers would

So you produce the same every year and use the same inputs ? You cut costs by cutting back and each item makes more proffit but you have less items , we are in a thankless position of actually to to inflation most of us in real terms are going backwards and we probably don’t even know it .Those in control of their costs?

As has been for many a decade, nowt new .Those running systems needing high inputs of fertiliser, labour and/or concentrates are going to be hit hardest by recent price hikes. Those that have systems less reliant on those inputs will be better placed to weather the storm, as with previous ones.

Speaking to a friend yesterday and, yes, he had just bought half his usual fert allocation at double the price. But will many even have the money in the bank to buy it at more than twice the usual price?Do you think?
I think a lot will pay it.
