Isobus?

Anyone care to explain the ins and outs of isobus and how to ensure compatibility ? Case pro 700 screen and Trimble fmx screen available or Trimble gfx screen. Looking to start using isobus but know very little about it as regards what matches what machine I know a Vicon baler will work on the pro 700 screen so does that mean any isobus machine will work?

Seemingly not 🤷‍♂️ Looking at a new Kuhn fert spreader and they tell me it won’t work isobus through the 700 pro screen but needs an xcn 1050 to do it. Had FT out looking at theirs and plugged a simulator into the socket and although limited as just a simulator it would appear to work and was quite neat

Got isobus running on my pro 700, needs an unlock code to start with, then when you using it you need to install TC then unless you can stand alarms going all the time, your best off uninstalling TC otherwise you’ll lose your mind!! No real effort but not the greatest system surely, unless I’m missing something. (My neighbour does the same)

Running Kuhn drill through ISOBUS and it's own screen separate to the Pro 700 which is good because you have the GPS screen up all the time as well. The annoying thing is if you are using task control on an ISOBUS machine, which I do for spreading and spraying, then everything has to run through the Pro 700 you cannot have 2 screens working. It is however manageable because you have different run screens to toggle between on the Pro 700 but a second screen would be better.

It's a joke, is what it is. I bought a machine on isobus (yet to be delivered) and got talking about isobus joysticks. As it turns out you can not use the old style muller joysticks anymore, not compatible with the new version. Whats the point of it then?
I now have to get the new "dynamic" cci joystick. Ffs.

Ok so checked the database as suggested by topcat above and the case pro 700 can support a Vicon baler some muller controller and some Arag controller and that’s it? Not a huge point in this isobus as far as I can see,,,,how do you add on the extra programs etc onto tractor screen I reckon manufacturers need to supply that with there machines for this to all work

The “program” isn’t in the screen it’s in the implement. When you plug it in it automatically uploads to the screen. Also the database only shows what’s been tested. Not all screens will have been and not all implements as it costs to do the test

Ok thanks Wombat I can understand that the actual program for the implement is on the implement controller but how do you know if a new machine ordered is compatible or is it a case of try it and see? And if it doesn’t work what can be done? Thanks

I connected a Vicon fert spreader to new Holland a few years ago everything worked apart from forward speed needed new Holland dealer to program it
when something doesn’t work, usually tractor manufacture blames implement manufacture and vise versa

Trouble is with the Mueller joysticks is there were two styles of them. A early one with plastic buttons. Which is CAN based. Not iso, however the later one with rubber covered buttons should work with an ISO machine. You can program this type to aux 2 and then program the functions on the buttons of your implement allows to do this.

I'm not familiar with the Isobus AUX stuff but my understanding is that there are three different Müller joysticks. In addition to the old CAN based one, there are two different Isobus joysticks and it is the implement choice which works. This is from the Müller Elektronik website:

AUX-O – Auxiliary Control (old), AUX-N – Auxiliary Control (new)

Additional operating controls, such as a joystick, which make it simpler to operate complex equipment; or the possibility to control functions on the implement using an additional operating control. There is an old version and a new version, but these are not compatible with each other. This means that implements which are certified to AUX-N cannot be operated with implements certified to AUX-O, and vice versa.

There’s only 2 types, the older Canbus one and the newer isobus one, the ISOBUS one is both AUX O and AUX N compatible, you can change it in the settings

There’s a few ways of knowing if it’s compatible. The first is plug and pray. The second is the AEF database. Thirdly and the most reliable, your dealer should have a compatibility list. This is what the manufacturers have tried and tested (Screens and machines).
Be aware that there’s different functions under ISOBUS, just because a machine appears on the screen(UT function), it doesn’t mean it will do everything you want. Section Control (TC-SC) and Variable rate (TC-GEO) are 2 separate functions within ISOBUS. So if you’re looking to do these, also check these functions are compatible as well.

Yea with a bit of reading up I am a bit wiser now looks like it should work albeit my screen does not support the tc-geo function but not too concerned about that at moment, can it be installed on screen at a later date or not
