Machinery, good machines bad machinez

Why is that loads of big arable men have claas combines but no other claas machine, same with loads of other makes plenty mf tractors but no mf implement and as said on other thread fendt combines, they will not take of but the tractors are great. Very strange, everyone around my ways have mchale balers, but no mowers or tedder. Funny how farmer pick and chose.

Yes l have a claas rake, mower and baler older one 250, don't get a good name but lv baled in a field beside a welgar and even its driver said my bales were far firmer and a much better bale, everyone to there own.

I think your answer is service and parts back up

The chances that a single manufacturer makes each bit of kit you want , exactly how you want is very slim. For example we have lely mowers and tedders and a claas rake. This is because we aren't a fan of claas front mowers and tedders but like claas rakes. This is different for everyone as different people prefer different designs of machines. I would rather have a yard full of kit I like than kit that's the same colour.

I've been running Claas balers for 15 years I've currently got a Rollant 374 it performs superbly and produces excellent solid bales if you keep the pressure control screwed pretty much to the max and re pressurise the back door once or twice while forming a bale. I happened to be baling side by side with a Fusion earlier in the season and was packing about 30% more into each bale. The net loading system on the Claas is excellent compared to a Mchale 5500 which I've driven a lot of, in fact I don't know how they get away with it as I can't be the only one who's put their back out loading net on a Mchale. There aren't many really bad machines out there any more most have good and bad points and if you could combine the best parts of most machines then it would be an ideal world, for example a John Deere with a CNH engine.

Round this way there's so many Claas combines that you'll struggle to get an engineer to look at anything other than a combine on a harvest day . They're forager is good and mowers and rakes but I wouldn't look near a tractor again

Also run a 374RC, I turned pressure control up to the max then back 1 full turn, makes hard, solid, well shaped bales every time.
Never had any problem with the netter, as long as I use Tamma net.
Big plus for me is local dealer is 10 miles away and pretty good so also run Claas tractor, rake, mower and tedder as well as the baler.

Farmers buy the best machine for the job, with the best backup and service for there situation. Name and paint colour mean nothing.
You mention MF. Grass implements are Fella or Lely. Balers are Hesston. The only MF thing is the paint colour.
We run MF balers as we have a good independent fitter backed up by a dealer 150 miles away. Even the local MF dealer uses him for PDIs and baler parts.
Why should I buy an MF tractor when our previous experience has been bad backup, expensive parts with poor availability, just because it has the same stickers on the side as the baler? I’d be fairly stupid to do that.
