Sis lives south of Kinvara, and the field sizes and the massive kit I see used by Contractors does seem a contradiction at times! :)
Ya the kit around here is massive in fairness for the area!! I’m 45 minutes north of Kinvara. Most contractors around here gone to double and triple mowers and the odd big m and new self propelled harvesters in every yard. only picking 1500-3000 acres max!! 100 acres is a huge pit around here I’d say 40 acres be average. I’m still old school running 2 9’ malone mowers I’ll probably go for something like Tanco mowers for next year though.

I wondered about the economics of the job I must admit.

Your figures REALLY make me wonder now.... ;) How the hell do they get that size kit around, and down the wee lanes (boreen?) all over the place.

With great difficulty 😂😂😂 150hp+ pulling 20’ trailers is the norm around here!! When I bought my 6620 in 2007 it was considered a decent baling tractor now there used for raking 😂

With triples , walk 20 acres an hour

A lot round here is per hour (at least it was when I did it) because Canterbury has a lot of rocks.
Many farms are a bit lazy when it comes to heavy rolling, they'll tell you they rolled it but ask when and it might have been 3 years ago.
Parked up in the paddock changing blades whilst charging $350 an hour tends to focus their minds a bit.(y)
