our smart meter has never worked as i old them when they fitted it. No phone signal in the house...... Installer said he had done his job. after a few months. I unplugged it . That was a year agoFret ye not, that smart meter you were forced to have will enable variable charging so you can be charged higher rates at times of shortage...oh what am I saying, I really mean that eventually suppliers will be able to offer different tariffs for you, offering a far greater level of flexibility than you currently receive.
