Neighbour and CCTV

Neighbour appears to have installed CCTV which, looking at its field of view, can only be pointing straight in to our farm entrance.
We are almost certain it is to record lorry and tractor movements so he can go to Highways etc to complain.

We were not informed of this camera nor are there any warning signs about one being in operation.

What is the exact legal position before I take any action?

Not exactly the same problem but a few years ago the parish council received a letter complaining about the traffic in and out of my “24 hour “ dairy farm. All the trucks have to come into the village which is a dead end. In their wisdom the parish council decided that they would try do some something about my activities and sent it on to Wiltshire council, who immediately told them to sod off and the farm was a legitimate business and had every right to be there.

That is going to be difficult, I’ve had one of them move away in the last couple of years. Was very stressful at times especially maize harvest and my right of access over a track.
I’m sure some of the TFF legal massive will be along soon.
Keep calm

No idea of the legal position, but what was there first - your farm or his house?

We get a bit of flack from new comers from tractors/traffic coming and going, animal noises/smells etc that generates letters from the council.

I just rake out the old pics of cattle going up and down the lane and granddad with a pair of Shires doing the same.
We're only doing what we've always done - they're the ones who've come to us and not us to them.

People can film whatever and whoever they want in "public areas" which would include the road outside your place.

If he didn't have a camera, he'd just use a notebook.

Unless you're doing something you shouldn't, why worry. As said above, you have every right to run a legitimate business.

My advice would be to get yourself (or a mate) on to the Parish Council.
