Our country has gone fudged

I remember as a kid spending hours everyday playing in the River Severn. After I had kids I taught them to swim in the Wye that ran through the farm. Now I wouldn't go in either wearing waders. Our rivers are sewers.
Probably always was, just that as a kid you would not have been aware of it and publicity in recent years has worked as well on you as anyone.

Just phoning a contractor, he said, got to go, Police have just arrived, will call again when they have gone. He called back, umbilical spreading slurry, someone called the police to say, slurry being pumped into the river. Police had to attend to check. What has happened to this country, when everyone is busy minding everyone else's business, unless it's someone being mugged on the street, then they are happy to look the other way. The organic inspector said that the new NVZ rules in Wales apply from this autumn coming. But people have watched slurry spreading this winter just gone, and phoned Natural Resources Wales to complain, NRW then had to visit each farm to check, even though nothing wrong had been done!

Some people think it is their place to punish others.

Socialism + Authoritarianism ends in Civil War IMHO.

Politicians playing with fire, which I guess they will promptly flee from with large suitcases of money - Michelle Moane style.

Toquark, my biggest anger is, whats in it for those that try to do the "right thing", ie, insure/tax vehicles, go through all the hoops and cost to get permission to build a new building, pay tax, pay council tax, pay vat pay pay pay pay, when increasingly, the "other lot" dont, and if caught get away with it, we have had 2 recently on our site, go bust, finish the old company with debts of over 80,000 pounds plus, most of which is unpaid vat and bounch back loan, then restart again? These are just 2 i know about, it must be happening all over costing the govt, and us tax payers in the end billions? All written off?

If the tax take was reasonable, more people would pay road tax , vat etc
My road tax is £320 cos i need to tow trailers. Is that fair?
People read about peers like michelle mone ripping off £100 million to offshore trusts and say why the feck should i pay for that?

It turned about 4 years ago, or rather it took Covid to make it obvious how society had changed.

Often as a kid I used to be amazed how societies on the other side of the Iron Curtain behaved, with so many people happy to inform on their friends, neighbours and even family. Covid has shown me that such people exist in every society, and will do it for nothing more than the moral superiority it affords them. In order to run a dictatorship you don't really need to have heavy handed surveillance on everyone, just make it easy for people to inform on others in return for nothing more than a few brownie points with the authorities. The snitches will do all your hard work for you, and there will always be plenty of them.
A lot of it is the "green eyed monster".
"Why should they own that field that I walk my dog around on the footpath". They think that because it's near where they live they they have some sort of ownership of it.

Not a lot, and it’s diminishing. Much higher mandatory investment (tax) for much lower returns. Quite how this has been allowed to happen under a supposedly conservative government is a strange one.

Few years ago carbon was a word rarely uttered, now so many experts know all about it where it comes from whos to blame what it dose , i must have been out the day they educated them all on carbon ..

The only carbon worthy of a mention is the exotic stuff on high end cars.

Some of my most hated words are
Carbon-neutral
Climate
Net zero
Sustainable
Sustainability

I actually cringe every time I hear these terms.

Met Police must be rushed off their feet the amount of raw sewerage being pumped into the Thames.

The hidden political agenda is melting around our ears. No one is engaged, which is hardly surprising. The Tories are off into the wilderness for the foreseeable future, and Labour will self destruct once in power as usual.

Many will vote Reform, making the split wider, and Tories even weaker.

The rats are deserting the sinking ship, and those that are left, look like perverted morons.

The delivery of policies is painful, and almost adhoc, we are lacking statesmen and leadership, whatever side your from.

We need something to bring us all together.

Meanwhile the elephant in the room is taking over Councils and coming across the channel at ever increasing speed.

We must demand more transparency on what our hard earned tax is being spent on, and challenge everyone canvasing for votes this autumn.

You give a classic example.

The Councils/Quango's don't give a flying fig about those that pay. The Councils rarely, if ever follow up, and the PFCC (if they have incorporated the fire service) has not saved us one penny, with most Council's increasing the Council Tax by 4.9% to keep below the 5% cap.

The Civil Service appears to think they are not responsible to anyone for anything, ever.

If a Council funded project is given life, it is likely to be way over budget, cost the earth, not be delivered on time, and need several design changes.

Meanwhile we play politics about what is going on in Gaza, that is us, the same useless fxxxrks that can't fill a pothole or two.

We are in a mess.

Rant over.

The Country as a whole & the individual devolved nations are each losing their identity, this is being eroded before our very eyes in the guise of leftism 'diversity & inclusion'.
Division is rife based on this policy regardless of how it is dressed up
The only thing that will galvanise or re-unite us is some form of serious hardship or all out war.
We now have dictatorial bills being made to prevent uprising.

notice a lot of blame going on the general public here, had a friend who use to work a "help line" that was used for reporting "problems", he always said that the biggest user of it was other Farmers reporting their neighbours
Wouldnt surprise most here in the least that... There's always one neighbour who has a chip on his shoulder, or is just a c*nt

Online safety bill being a particularly insidious one at that, using the threat to children from the abundance of trolls/porn online (whilst on the face of it, admirable) as a pretext to stop all online dissent
