Our country has gone fudged

It turned about 4 years ago, or rather it took Covid to make it obvious how society had changed.

Often as a kid I used to be amazed how societies on the other side of the Iron Curtain behaved, with so many people happy to inform on their friends, neighbours and even family. Covid has shown me that such people exist in every society, and will do it for nothing more than the moral superiority it affords them. In order to run a dictatorship you don't really need to have heavy handed surveillance on everyone, just make it easy for people to inform on others in return for nothing more than a few brownie points with the authorities. The snitches will do all your hard work for you, and there will always be plenty of them.
I was watching John Craven on Newsround back 1978ish. Mt Craven was appealing for children to inform the police if healthy Dutch elms were been felled.

Dad said at the time "just like Hitler's Germany".

Those children watching John Craven then are now early retired civil servents & still watch John Craven.

notice a lot of blame going on the general public here, had a friend who use to work a "help line" that was used for reporting "problems", he always said that the biggest user of it was other Farmers reporting their neighbours
Everyone regards anyone outside of their industry or job as "the public" On here the public are anyone who doesn't farm (it's not clear whether non farming landowners are public or not) To everyone else farmers are just lumped in with the public as they are all outsiders.
If the country is fudged it's fair to assume that the farmers are playing their part in it as is everyone else.

Imagine the resources to cater for 20 million folk for a year !

Imagine the money involved & who has got that money

20,000,000 x 100,000 = 2,000,000,000,000 = 2 Trillion in profit on the houses alone, with associated mortgages say 4+ Trillion for the banks & building societies

Those are low estimates BTW

All the commercial properties required to service those people & services

Can you see how much money a few people are making at the expense of everyone else

IMO, the reason for most problems we face boils down to one fact, we are over populated. But you never hear anybody say that, it's always climate change or lack of money or governance.

Flooding, to many houses, to many people.
NHS knackered, to many people straining the system.
Potholes and general road state, to much traffic, to many people.
Crime, not enough police to go around, to many people.
River pollution, to much sewerage, system can't cope, to many people.

What do you do to fix these problems, you can't, it's a one way street and it's to late to turn around. I sometimes sit and genuinely worry for the future for my child. Haven't said that, have I added to the problem by introducing him to this world. 🤔

Import third world nonsense, expect its behaviour to follow
I would say that's a separate problem, the black and brown ones won't snitch because they're often at something dodgy themselves. Besides their countries are shitholes why would they be bothered if ours turns the same.
It's the white up-their-own-hoop do little do gooders that are guilty of this. Used to say snitches get stitches and I think we would all like to give some of them an absolute pasting. Fairly recently the police showed up as I had shot some pigeons and put them on a midden on our hill and some fker walked by and phoned the rozzers.
Absolute soft, grassing, idle b4stards.

The only carbon worthy of a mention is the exotic stuff on high end cars.

Some of my most hated words are
Carbon-neutral
Climate
Net zero
Sustainable
Sustainability

I actually cringe every time I hear these terms.
But after cringing you will have a blast in the BM to cheer you up :)

Kiwi pom you are right to a point, you can divide the UKs poulation in many ways, ie the haves and have nots, one large way, thats only come about in the last 40 odd years, are home owners and those who rent? I can remember back in the 1970s-80s, and finding a local paper from that era, brings it home when a "average house" was around £25-30,000 and people didnt keep on talking about house prices, back then a "average" person on an average salery could just about afford to buy and did, those that bought back then and in the years up to the end of the 1980s, have seen their "average" house increase in value 10 or more times, far more than inflation, so have a valuble asset that often gets passed down to the next generation? The other lot, the renters have none of this?

And yet bizarrely there's ever more pressure on the National Insurance pot now and in the future and to reduce the influence of the State Pension (deferred date for eligibility etc)
