A million tons in the netherlands going to waste because of covid19, farmers selling them off as stock feed at awful prices
Might be worth getting in touch with any local food banks, nursing homes, charities and the like to see if they want any, wont make any money but be worth the feel good factor.will be the same here unless something changes. Trouble is there ain’t much stock in East Anglia to feed them too!
It a PR disaster, people can’t get enough food (food banks etc) and we might have to dump them for nothing.

Tell them there bean sprouts , that would fool them! That's how it is at the minute, sales have fell off a cliff, people have stocked up, so will be trying to bring back potatoes which have sprouted as well.
Any grants going to erect cold stores ?? The grower who rented land off me was dipping his toe in the water with markies and romano for the chipping market .Still lifting here, even though take aways are allowed to stay open it’s the lack of footfall that’s killing it I think?
It really is looking quite disastrous to me. Lack of demand now is t helping and how are we going to keep stuff into the spring without cipc?
Visually the are very appealing with high yields and good skin finish . The are now the main variety grown over here . You are right regarding the flavour nothing special in my humble opinion . Give me Queens , records and Golden wonders any day .Is there something ace about these rooster spuds or just good marketing? Mrs teslacoils brought some back from the shop in a fancy bag and the chips were middling to poor, and the mash no better than any generic reds.
There you go another truimph of style over substance !! Are the Albert Bartlett bags by any chance ??They were supposed to be a multi purpose one, but they don't fry at all well. To be fair I didn't roast any, but they will sell loads in their fancy bags.

Folks buy what they are familiar with, and they advertised on TV. It's like Granny Smith apples, folks buy them because they are familiar.Yup.
Consumers know bloody nothing. All bought with eyes.
