Don't want to make a Fendt JD bashing thread but i was just wondering if anyone has experience of the pull on a 6250r compared to an 828? On a vaderstad rapid 6m for example?

Local farm has 2 x 6250r I know the lad that drives them they had an 828 but now have a 936 . When they had 828 he said the JD's outpulled the fendt on 6f plough and 6m trailed drill and he's a fendt fan boy.

There’s a man on here with both a 724 and a 6250r. Dairy farmer and I can’t for the life of me remember his name 😳

We've got an 828 and 724, both lush tractors. Just thinking of changing our older NH tractor for something affordable that can still do some good pulling with potential to pull the drill with a full hopper faster.

Is the 6250r any more comfortable than the 6215r? I've driven them a fair bit and yeah the fendts are in a different league.

728 maybe in the future, though i do like the 828s bigger cab for the dog

I like the fact that the dogs comfort factors into the decision 👍

I do have both, the 6250 spends most of its time on a 16 cube tanker with a trailing shoe, also runs triple mowers and does cultivation. I mostly drive the 724, all spraying, fertiliser and drilling. Have just changed to a 6m vaddy for this season.

The 6250 is a beast when it comes to pulling, we have the boost when the hydraulics are running. With quite a lot of road work and hills both ways out of the dairy it is all uphill. We run a mixer in the tanker so the hydraulic system is always working and the boost is mostly on. The 724 will pull the tanker well but there is a noticeable and unsurprising drop in speed on the road, the tanker will be the boss if your not careful.

I have demoed a 828 a couple of times, once in the same field as the previous 6250. I have a 5m Quivoigne cultivator. It’s mounted and weighs 3t. On the steepest field I have (combine going up issues) the 6250 was better. I can’t remember what weights we were using. That extra few hp may have just been enough.

It would be very interesting to see how a 728 compares. I think the differences will be much smaller. I’ve had Fendts as “my” tractor for 20 years, so I am biased and the 724 gen 6 is fantastic. The new operating system is great once you learn it. The dairy staff will drive the JD but refuse to on the 724, I also have a gen 4 716 which they drive a lot. I think it’s just the 3 screens scare them off. I’m not worried it keeps cow muck out of the tractor. My brother prefers JD, he mostly drives it. We get on well with both dealers and they have both got us out of holes when we have asked.

At the end of the day I really think it’s down to driver preference. But if you can afford/get your hands on a 728 it has to be worth a look.

240k for the 728 and 180k for the 6r250 must be a consideration though…? (Same spec)

I was only answering practically. Finance is a thread on its own. Usually ending with no 2 quotes being the same and are warranty’s worth it.

Practically, now a days with all mainstream manufacturers offering fairly good CVT options with good joy stick options, with very good cab options I think it’s more down to personal preference, which rep you get on best with, which back up you feel is best and what deal is best on the day.
