Just wondering why these never took off in a big way. Less horsepower more furrows, what’s not to like?

We used to, ransomes TSR 300 3 furrow on the front (still got it in the shed) and a TSR 300 5 furrow on the back of a Ford 8210. As said, not handy on the road, we had to have the front tyres ballasted for traction, as no front draught control. But they did have a place, with the right man on, worked well on a run with an electric pole, you could run with 5 or 8, if the going got hard on the odd steep bank. Went surprisingly well considering only 110hp, you wouldn’t see that these days , minimum of 200 for 5 furrows most places, and ploughs are supposed to be easier to pull now!Just wondering why these never took off in a big way. Cameras make that easier to solve? Might be tricky with them turning over?Try pulling out a junction or out of field onto the rd, enough to put me off
A man walking in front with a red flag probably a better optionCameras make that easier to solve? Might be tricky with them turning over?
Keith Williams who was Dowdeswell demonstrator likened it to trying to push a piece of string up the field on all but the best of land
Would the power requirement per furrow be less?Just wondering why these never took off in a big way. Less horsepower more furrows, what’s not to like?
I disagree, it pushed perfectly, and you can move about in the furrow to straighten the run too. The depth wheel is on the very front and runs in the furrow, it’s steel with an extra wear plate on the side that runs against the furrow wall.Keith Williams who was Dowdeswell demonstrator likened it to trying to push a piece of string up the field on all but the best of land
Like many things in life we all have different opinions on things, you clearly have more patience than others! If you'd ever had the pleasure of meeting Willy you'd know if he thought it was rubbish, he was probably right!I disagree, it pushed perfectly, and you can move about in the furrow to straighten the run too. It could look both ways? The camera turn over
Well you can have two cameras one split screen and they always going to be same way up transporting .It could look both ways?
Abandoned some time in the early '90's when folks gave up buying proper tractors....
