NoAre you living in a house owned by the employer?

id email then you have it in writting. Its also easier in an email to not get flustered. If in doubt. Speak to your local CAB.I would phone him ,record the call and say that you are sorry that you took his advice to go away, but would he like to reconsider as you can appreciate walking out like that may put him in a difficult position. A phone call costs nothing and it puts the ball in his court if he does play difficult on your final wages.
It is always a shame when things end that way, I must confess as an employer, I have a couple of times got upset in this situation , but like to think I have always gone back to apologise and hopefully we have parted. on good terms.
sadly there are a*******s everywhere
I more read the witness happened to be in ear shot and heard the discussion rather than he took a witness in with him ????Very sad to read, however we maybe only have half the story here. having a witness with you indicates something was wrong, and that you felt the need to have one due to what the expectation may be.
If he/she was angry enough to spark that reaction, it would be interesting to know why.

Sorry , but a guy you have great hopes of , comes in Monday morning and announces he is leaving , come on you should be entitled to a rant. However you should then go back and apologise. I know I have done it.Them kind of employers need a smack in the mouth

All that we as strangers can really do is offer advice on holidays, notice period and outstanding wages etc.
he absolutely is not entitled to a rant, he has chosen to employ people and needs to understand people move on, good men never stay in a minor position long (however nice the kit) as they are always looking to better themselves.Sorry , but a guy you have great hopes of , comes in Monday morning and announces he is leaving , come on you should be entitled to a rant. I wouldnt bother contacting him and/or recording calls. He told you where to go so just get another job and move on. Nonsense all the talk of contracts and rights etc, just move on and put it down to experience.I had a witness with me who heard everything they were very aggressive towards me the discussion broke down big time
There are 2 sides to every story, particularly when passions run high.
I'd be slow to offer too much of an opinion unless I knew at least one of those involved pretty well.

I have nothing to hide they have a reputation for such behaviour I took a witness because there is two of them and I ve had them gang up on me before and I m now glad I did whatever the situation nobody should be treated like that,I ve done nothing wrong .Very sad to read, however we maybe only have half the story here. having a witness with you indicates something was wrong, and that you felt the need to have one due to what the expectation may be.
