Range Rover 50th Aniversary

If you think the RR is expensive you are correct. If you compare it with something cheaper. If however you compare it with a Bentayga, Aston Martin, Cullinan or a myriad of other vehicles, it just isn't. And if you think a Mercedes Benz is more reliable, you are sadly mistaken. Very much mistaken. All vehicles in this category can be very expensive indeed to run, no matter what the brand, and nobody should be under any illusion otherwise. Yes, I have owned Mercedes and friends have and have had them also, and I've owned Range Rovers to 100,000 miles as well. I wouldn't hesitate having another of any of those vehicles.

Mercedes is without doubt more reliable. We’ve now put 600,000 miles in total on 4 x ML, 1 x GL and 1 x GLC. The older ML’s had injector problems at over 100k miles and they all eat tyres but that is it. No roadside breakdowns ever.

However LR wise.
TDI disco was ok (3 door)
TD5 disco gearbox/clutch/electric issues constantly.
TD5 disco (no 2) gearbox, transfer box, radiator, clutch, electrics, suspension, turbo, intercooler.
TDV6 electrics constantly. Lasted 6 months before being moved on.
Finally a TDV6 RR Vogue. Electrics, electrics, electrics. We used a Volvo loan vehicle more in its 12 months with us and then had the money back. What an absolute pile of shite.

Then I was on the LR test group for the new Defender and I can tell you that’s a pile of shite as well. Ridiculous pricing. They completely forgot about a tow bar as well right up untilwe were shown the final finished products 2 years ago.

I know plenty of people running RR/Disco’s and it’s like a competition of who’s has broken down the most.

And if your into shares, take a look at JLR. They are knackered. Sold mine 6 years ago thank god. JLR is up for sale for a reason!
