Getting time to change, looking for small crossover ,suv , something I can step into not fall into and have to heave myself out. Don't want a ladder to get in either.
Reliable , comfortable, reasonable economy, and a spritely drive , want decent performance doesn't have to be fire-breathing but don't want to crawl about either.
Currently got a 12 year old cx 5 it's becoming unreliable, only done 90k . But it's one thing after another now.
Don't need anything that big.

Daughter has Qashquai, 68 plate.
Along with 3 others Im aware of, it has just been in for DEF problems.
Turned out to be software update for Daughter's car, and £130 diagnostic fee, for a known issue that ought to be a recall.
Forums suggest others not been so lucky, needing new tanks and lots of labour charges.
Car is otherwise fine and generally trouble free.
I'd look at a Suzuki S-Cross, if I was going nearly new.
Agronomist has his second, I believe, Ssangyong, that is no bother. Probably get a new one of them for the price of a secondhand Tiguan/Rav/etc?

Citroen is easy on the fuel. Iv a c3 and like it. A berlingo would be the dab and can have rear seats if needed

faster than fast enough, sticks to the road like sh!t to a blanket, not bad off road, diesel ones ain’t bad on juice and on the whole there reliable. There not the pikeys favourite 4x4xfar without good reason….

Just bought a diesel CRV to get rid of an unreliable Tiguan. Cheap to run, huge boot. New ones have gone all phev with silly price tags. Maybe too big for you, not a massive car though - not a good 4 x 4 though

Think you might struggle a bit, Daughter was offered £12k allowance by dealership to change, as an opening bid, which is not enough on what appears now to be a £35k vehicle

You'll get a CX30 SkyactivX for that. Petrol, 180bhp and 45mpg+ (the auto is much harder on fuel).

The Lexus RX or Hyundai Kona all fall into the Cross Over market you're talking about.

All 3 are pretty solid reliability, mate has a Kona EV that had battery problems but Hyundai sorted everything and they were good on the i40 I had (flaking alloys and stiff clutch).

Hybrid are great for MPG unless you're doing loads of motorway stuff. Neighbour sells cars and he won't run anything hybrid Toyotas himself.

Like the mazda cx30 but the mazda dealership service manager put me off he said they had loads of problems as the engines were so dam complex trying to be all things to all men.

@Interested in farming do you mean neighbour won't run anything but hybrid toyotas or won't run them at all.

He will only run Toyota Hybrids. Says they are really reliable. Only issue with the X engine I've heard of is a recall over radiators.
Not seeing loads of horror stories about them like the 2.2d. Mines been reliable enough so far but needs big revs to perform.
