Removing Ad Blue

That’s what I thought when I first heard about it.
I was told by local contractor who had made the move to a larger engined chopper as it did away with the need for ad blue, don’t think he could believe it either.
The “loophole” no longer exists, well for new engines in Europe anyway, as these will now fall under Stage V.

There is no upper “get out of jail card” any more. Saying that Stage V for these monster > 750 HP engines isn’t as tough as Stage V for smaller engines falling between 175 HP and 750 HP. These have the really tough limits for not only a NoX but particle count. That’s right actual number counts of very tiny bits sh!t coming from the exhaust.

However there is no Stage V (or any “Stages” for that matter) in North America only Tier 4 Final now...which still tops out at 560 kW/750 HP.

Get your head around that lot!

The one I specifically saw was 770hp
Yeah even once they run out of “stock”/crated Stage IV certified engines, putting the latest Stage V ones, won’t be such a big deal for them.

They probably won’t bother fitting them with DPFs for instance because there’s no particle count mandated for power > 750 HP and the other stuff they do squirting a bit of good old pig pee / AdBlue / DEF into the exhaust to meet NoX and PM limits which aren’t too harsh. In fact the Stage V limits are more relaxed / “dirtier” than Stage III was for smaller engines.

The exhaust from the really big ones, they’ll basically still be hazy!

Shhhh don’t tell the tree huggers. :D

There does seem to be a few that have lost their operators licence because of it in the UK. I think I read somewhere that there was going to be a crack down here too.
Is it legal to delete it on tractors I wonder?
How do those that offer a delete service (and advertise the fact they do it) get on? Is it legal to do but not operate, what's the loophole?
Bit of a shi*y thing to do in my opinion, getting an advantage by cheating but everyone has their own personal standards.
Not illegal to sell an “ emulator device” ,device to fool ad-blue system, not illegal to fit said device , not illegal to remap to delete the system it is however illegal to use any vehicle on a public highway that does not comply with the emissions regulations which form part of the MOT test for commercial vehicles.
Obviously don’t have such a test for AG vehicles ...yet but this is where the HGV boys have fallen foul.
The companies doing the mapping/ deleting are Scot free but the owner / operator get hammered with fines and suspension or complete revoke of their operators licences.

Not helpful duckie,,,,,,,,,,,,🤣🤣 anyway swan vestas is not your line 😂😂😂

I thought I'd lost my New Holland to a fire this morning as it happens. Was hauling a heavy load of silage back the seven miles from the pit to the home pit when on the last steep hill I noticed smoke coming from the back end of the tractor. I was only about 250 metres from the turning off the main road to my lane at the time so I wasn't going to let it block the road [been there, done that] while it burnt so I carried on. It was downhill the kilometre to my yard and the volume washer so I decided to make a dash for it.

It was only when I escaped from the cab to get the hose that I noticed that it didn't smell of burnt plastic or anything. Decided that it must be coolant and since it was coming from below the cab it must have been a cab heater hose. Which is what it was, thank goodness. It had perished under where some oil had dripped on it from the brake master cylinder and burst, luckily so near home.

Turned the heater hose isolator tap off, let the tractor cool and topped the radiator and header tank off and all's well until I cut a piece out of the hose, insert a pipe and join it all together and replenish the anti-freeze, which by pure chance I'd bought a 20 litre can of two days ago, on Friday.

The naughty thought did occur to me that it was a pity that it hadn't burnt to a cinder, as it is about time I had an excuse for a new tractor. :angelic:

Have patience

Rely upon those steep hills and heavy silage trailers. You'll get the opportunity for that new tractor soon 👍

You seem to have forgotten that the cause of the leaking heater hose is a leaking brake master cylinder....... 😱🤣

It's a joint that seems to give a single drip every week or so. Can't stop it with sensible tightening of the banjo bolt. It has been like that for years.
Is it flammable?

Also in the last week the touchpad under the cash display seems to have stopped working so the hours worked display can't be accessed. Is the tractor hinting at something?

Quick emissions lesson:

Adblu (ammonium nitrate) only gets used when engines reach a certain running temp, so tractors or loaders only doing light work will use hardly any, sometimes none at all. I used to run a fleet of trucks and the ones doing 20 deliveries a day hardly used any, whereas those belting up and down motorways used a lot more (even though MPG was better)

The alternative to adblu is ERG (exhaust gas recycling) where exhaust gasses are fed through the engine again to reduce emissions.

Both are a legal requirement to reduce exhaust emissions to the atmosphere and are MOT items. Unless you are a VW executive, I would suggest you don't interfere with emissions control equipment.
AdBlu is 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water. Much different than ammonium nitrate.

In my truck I have both Adblu and a EGR. I would not say that it is a system that works for the owner of the machine.

Ah, might be a suspiciously high level of heat required to reach oil leak ignition temperature

Perhaps a touch pad electrical fault generated spark instead?
