SELLING PRICE

I don't call POA adverts any more. A few years ago a local dealer had a Gull trailer in stock with POA in the advert. So I rang up and they said come and see it and we'll have a chat. They wanted £8,250 + vat which was very steep so I left it. On the way home a friend called and I told him where I'd just been and the price and he laughed. He'd enquired the day before and also been to see it and was quoted £9,500 + vat. It was the same salesman. Anyway that was that until they had an open evening and I was stood with my friend and a few others and this salesman came over so we had him about it. Best thing though one of the other guys in the group we were stood with who I didn't know piped up and asked the salesman if it was the trailer he'd bought at £7,500 + vat.
It was! That salesman dented his reputation with about a dozen of us and the story spread further afield as well over time. He ended up doing the dealerships export which he is still doing to this day.

At the end of the day these firms are not forcing you to purchase or pick up the phone. I wouldnt put a price on an animal and stick to it for months on end with all the extra feed it would eat, so why is a machinery dealer going to post prices with volatile exchange rates and new kit prices being changed .

Have you ever phoned up for a POA price and found it was surprisingly cheap?
Anyone??
exactly, if they know they can sell it out cheaply and make a decent profit they will put a price to get it sold,

poa mean im gonna stiff you for as much as i can,

think its townsend tractors near me everything poa, never bought anything off them, dont even look anymore (well just did to check its all still poa!)

ripon farm services nearly everything is priced, bought several items off them and regularly use them for spares too.

they know how much they want for the item, put a price simples!

Because the 2nd hand machines we are talking about are sitting in their yards. They are not still on farm being used where things can change. The problem is they price equipment to the person taking into account who they are, do they own the farm, what cars do they drive, how often do they spend money. All relative to squeezing the max margin on the item. I just find it very unethical.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
