Hi peeps I need some advice, got a local chap wanting my Maxxum 5120, as I retired earlier this year I probably wont need it any more, so I may aswell let it go but not sure what to ask for it, I've owned it for about ten years It's got 14,000 hours on the clock and still runs like a sewing machine, good starter and runner, Iv'e always changed engine oil and filter every 250 hrs, fuel filters every 500 hrs and gearbox oil (hytran) every 1000 hrs, It's got forward and reverse shuttle with neutral, shift gears, creeper, air seat, aircon, metal work is very good and It's well shod and everything works. just wondering what I should asking the chap for it as I don't want to rob the guy and then again I don't want to ask to little. tia.

Tidy sewing machine or not, that's a lot of hours and is going to affect the value (in my opinion). Once a tractor goes past the 10,000 hour mark, the value seems to plummet because people still have a fascination with low hour machines, no matter how terrible they are.

On the local market, I'd value it at $15,000 NZD (8000 lbs) + 15% GST at the absolute most, considering it's got no loader or front linkage, but they haven't really reached "classic" status here and it would just be "a" tractor. Maybe the UK market for older machines is a bit.....inflated. Add a bit more, ask for 10k? Why not just let the man make an offer and then work to a number that you're both happy with.

It does look good though, love the poppy.

That’s actually a good thing. You have a good decent tractor, you must have a figure in your head you would be happy with? Have a chat with your prospective buyer - you may not be far away.

there are 2 values to tractors / trade values and retail values .
our neighbour has a maxum thats done those sort of hours and i think he paid over £10k and yours is tidy too , can you not go for a hunt on the internut for a guide , but saying that i can only get offered 7/8k for our old jd 3050 so work that out .
