SPFH Acres Per Hour

Just wondering how many acres people are getting done per hour and with what machine.

More important to work out what can be clamped well enough per hour than what can be chopped.
I know one dummy who drives his forager like a loon and then tells the buckrake man he's not up to it when he can't keep up in an awkward yard.
The same man will take an almost full trailer into a steep corner when there's an empty trailer in the field waiting, then tell the lad with the full trailer he's no use when he can get back up the hill.

It depends on how fast the loader man can pit it correctly. Roll it and do a good job , I know a big outfit with a class 970 and the grass is going in so fast that a Volvo l90 can’t handle it, a lot of waste on the pit , they will have plenty of time next year to take their time as I hear a lot of farmers are fed up of too much waste On the pits. When I had the older model class 860 with a jcb 414 on the pit 10 acres per hour was good going . There are class 970 now doing 20 acres an hour. The loader and the man on it are more important than the harvestor .

If you put it in right it has a much better chance of coming out right . The season is very short but the need for speed is going too far . The harvesters have trebbled in output, the trailers have doubled in capacity but alot of the yards have not changed much and there is a limit to what is a practical loader size .

He sounds a joy to work for

We’ve got two claas 960’s and as others have said how long is a piece of string we push everything up with a front buckrake on either mf 7718 or 7720 and never get swamped and as far as I’m aware never get complaints of waste
