Store Lambs

Its coming that time of year again. We will be buying store lambs over the next couple of months, prices currently very strong, as there is plenty of grass around, but have a feeling they will slip back due to later harvest in a lot of places. Anyway, just thought I would enquire if anyone on here would have any batches they would like to sell? We buy most types, but prefer the plainer dead weight lambs.

Store lamb prices will only go one way and that is UP! ( just like they have the last two years )

You may well be right, but you never quite know do you.

Everyone has more grass than they know what to do with currently..

Unless we suddenly get a 2 month heatwave and everything burns up to a cinder or the fat price drops £20 head suddenly for some reason then i cannot see store lamb prices doing anything but going one way and that is upwards!

And i say that as someone who wants to buy store lambs!

There’s still an ‘unless’ in there though isn’t there 😂

Seriously dry here, havnt had rain in weeks, ewes will start getting silage in the next few days to keep grass back for those that need it. 10 mile away they are almost washing away though 🤷🏻‍♂️

Grass growth has all but stopped here again. We have certainly gone from famine to feast, then heading rapidly towards famine again. I’m anticipating being ok for my own lambs, but certainly wouldn’t entertain buying extra mouths in currently.
