Straw spreading gadget

Next year we will have all Round bale straw from behind an Axail flow combine. Now obviously these don’t roll out very well. Need something to spread them. Preferably without spending a fortune which rules the likes of the Wessex crossfire out.

Mounted/trailed straw choppers aren’t the answer due to shed layout and also non of current tractors are really small enough to fit in various places.

Ideally the machine needs to be able to fit on the front and be handled by a 2.7 ton lift telehandler.

It also needs to be easy to load 5ft 6in bales without been hitched off as there is only 1 loader.

Also needs to be fairly compact as space to maneuver is at a premium in places.

Budget is the usual 9/10ths of nothing?‍♂️?

Malgar spinning disc ,job , seen some for sale somewhere ,now searching ,but on second thoughts ,you maybe better ,just dumping a bale in shed ,cut the net ,tou will need an extra wrap ,and bale it in the evening ,
Dump bale cut net , shove it about with loader as it will flow like water

Another vote for the Malgar/Warthog
:

I have an early spreadabale, that we bought ex demo in 2003. It's seen somewhere between 11&12000 quadrant bales in that time, with very little bother. For square bales, they are king, for sure. Their effectiveness at spreading round bales depends how good the bales are, and getting them in the right way. The Malgar will shred anything.

Won't need anything. Just dump bales on there ends, take off net bales explode when pressure off and cattle will destroy, level it.
Nah don’t work. Got some Axail flow bales this year. They need moving about a bit. Doesn’t help that all straw lives out an this year the outsides are wetter that an otters pocket!

Why not an unroller on the spike?

Our straw is off a rotary NH and I think one of these would work.
Depends how much you smash the straw up though...
Got one of those. Great for unrolling silage bales or barley straw out of a walker combine but anything smashed up and the bale falls to bits straight away.

If anyone is interested I will have a Kuhn 2060m mounted silage/straw spreader for sale in the new year. About five years old I think, bought new by me, in good condition, electric controls

I know someone with a Emily bale unroller/ spreader he gets straw from us out of our lexion and some he gets is basically chaff in a round bale( depending on when it's cut) and they get on fine with it . Self loading as well from memory so 1 loader does everything

Someone I know has one of these

Likes it a lot
I have a square bale one. Mounted on a weeks trailer axle. Works really well on squares. Rounds take a bit more work but are doable.
We originally looked at a round bale one but decided that a square bale one is more flexible and we can feed out hay if we remove the discs.

Big thumbs up from me ?
