Hi everyone. So I’m after a tractor and trailer to move my 9ton machine from farm to jobs. What sort of hip do I realistically need. We only run small tractor at the moment. Thanks

For your job there are two common choices.

1. 300hp, twin beacons, twin whips, Grassmen sunshade, 3 ton front weightbox, 30ft tri axle low-loader painted same colour as tractor with outriggers, hydraulic ramps, ABS on air and flashing LED's.

2. 70/80 hp (when it was new), 4WD (doesn't work), 4 mis-matched tyres, optional cooling pack (some glass missing), on board workshop facilities (behind seat and all over cab floor), rust inhibitor package (leaks oil from every seam), pedestrian alert system ( straight pipe or hole in exhaust), immobiliser (lynch pin across starter terminals), pin hitch (using gate hanger for pin) towing a single axle, home made, pre war (first or second doesn't matter), environmentally friendly (only half the floor boards are there), baler twine and fencing wire re-enforced, camouflaged (colour alternates between rust brown and moss green) manually braked (brick) fitted with farm sale light board (bulbs weren't included) attached upside down by twine.

But on a more serious note back in sensible days they used to reckon on 10hp per ton, so 9 ton digger plus 3 ton of buckets and trailer will give you 120 hp.
Make sure the brakes work.

I like it mate lol. I was thinking of 120hp. I se there’s plenty of low loader trailers around. Any make to steer clear of?

Plenty of makes to choose from, all have their pro's and cons. If you are shifting a 9 ton machine you don't want a steep ramp as your short a bit on the undercarriage. Make sure it has proper axles and brakes and a bit of storage and plenty of lashing points and not too high for easier loading and better stability.
