he doesn't seem to think there is a grass situation, his option is sell all sheep and by a house dog, when sheep are eating clay he may decide to help sort grass keep out, just want to say to thanks to all that's read and commented on my thread. feel as if iv came along way since start of my thread, although it may not look it, thanks all
I think you have come a long way. And a lot further than your father has. I think that you might have similar thinking it's just that his comes out in anger and yours in inward looking.

You will go further.

Hello everyone, been having a scroll back through this time see what’s changed since last posted. In the actual farm side been a few changes, good and bad. With me personally a lot of mental changed mostly for the worse unfortunately. All was exactly same fsrm wise until I bought 10 heifers In January 2019. Sold them start off summer 2020 and bought some shearling ewes. Still have most off them. Been lucky enough to get finances for more calves so have 15 heifers just coming off milk today most off them. They help me a great deal but I still can’t shake the massive anxiety relating to them and the sheep/ farm. Hope everyone is well that’s contributed to this many years ago

Well I followed your thread from 2013 and I've always been so pleased that many on here came and gave you support. Having seen at first hand what anxiety and worry can do, I'm pleased you've reached out again and also given us an update

One thing I read between the lines all along this thread is your a very conscientious stockman and that's a thing to be damn proud of

I'm sure if you ask away there's plenty of advice and support for you

All the best and keep posting

Jeremy

Thank you. Have got my heifers again and sheep numbers back up. Yet still feel not in control off that I’m doing as stopped sheep for few years nearly totally and feel Iv lost some off my instinct. Same for calves. First 10 in 2019 was learning and refreshing my mind about calves. Now I have 15 I’m still abit wary to do things as never sure it’s right. And more often than not when I do something there’s high chance off someone coming along to say I’m wrong

Try practice-science Will!

Design "safe to fail" (small scale) experiments, it's really empowering when you make and test a hypothesis on your own place, a habit

Then, you can start to feel a bit more "well, who gives a feck what they think, because I already tried that out, myself"

I get that fear of failing... actually try to fail a bit, turn it around in your head that the real "failure" is in not giving stuff a go, learning is not failing

Hang in there if you enjoy it. Get someone to talk to and look at alternative methods of control. I have found homeopathy worked really well for my anxiety issues.

I try to not let it get to me with all the comments and being watched when it’s not actually any off their business what goes on on farm but i can’t avoid it at times

Thank you. I’m not sure I’m much off a input to most things when very little experience on most. I’m at home on farm semi alone for first time in 2 years now until Tuesday so I’m glad to get some time to do stuff for myself but also it’s making me rather anxious at the same time

Stop, breath, listen to the wind or birds singing. Nothing you can do to stop the wind and the birds singing is lovely. Enjoy the small things. Its not bad to be anxious. We all feel like it at times.

Iv my own animals outside to look after which I do 365 days a year ever year but have the hens to look after to. Guarantee if something goes wrong Itl be called my fault. Even if nothing goes wrong Itl still somehow be a reason that I’ve done something wrong over the weekend

And sometimes, if not always, your gut instinct will be better for your stock than all the “experts” out there
