Hi There,
My name is Evie, a 19 year old British veterinary medicine student in my first year at the Royal Veterinary College and I'm looking for a dairy placement in/around Colchester, Essex for this summer. I realise this might be a long-shot but I felt it was worth asking. I'm a confident, hard worker and I'm definitely not afraid to get my hands dirty and get mucked in with whatever needs doing. I am happy to work the long hours and early mornings, and would really love to find a placement closer to home due to family responsibilities. I unfortunately have limited experience around cows but have plenty working on farms with sheep and equines and long days of hard work are something I'm very used to. I'm really eager to learn and get involved in the day-to-day of a dairy farm from milking to calving - I really am looking to get involved with as much of the husbandry as possible.
I'm able to provide my own steel-toe wellies and waterproof work clothes. Accommodation won't be necessary if I can find a placement close enough to home as I drive and would be able to travel to and from each day. I'm happy to provide my own food and water too.
Here's a list of the following requirements for my placement:
- 2 consecutive weeks
- A minimum of 90+ milking herd
- In-date employee liability insurance (I will have to provide my university with a copy of this)
I'm available on the following 2-week periods:
22/7/24 to 4/8/24
26/8/24 to 8/9/24
2/9/24 to 15/9/24
I've unfortunately had a few potential placements fall through, hence the late post, but I appreciate you taking the time to read and offer any help if you can.
Please get in touch as soon as possible if you or anyone you know could help.
All the best,
Evie
