If you want to find any reason to convince yourself that Russia is wanting to invade like Boris and Biden are so keen to do then you will always find something!

Did Russia not in other years play large scale war games near the Ukraine border?? but then there was none of this hype like Boris and Biden are doing this year
Oh I like this, you, of all people, are throwing around lines like 'If you want to find any reason to convince yourself...' quality GUTH, quality! :ROFLMAO:

No, there have been no others organised, deployed and supplied like these.

Anyone can advocate anything. Anyone can also suggest not relying on Russian gas.

The reality on the ground is totally different.

Let's just ignore our food security, ignore our energy security and cost working people double the energy price .. soon to be a lot more.

For what ? All they've done so far is export CO2 production elsewhere whilst reducing UK jobs. Even if what they want "Works" - it will be a small reduction of 1% of 10% of CO2. But don't worry .. bits of paper say the world won't heat up by the end of the century now because China makes UK steel .. we'll have to make UK war ships out of recycled cakes.
You keep on throwing all this stuff at me as if it's something I have argued for; when have I? You won't find a single post reading about me calling for anything other than more self-reliance. Do some homework and at least post an accurate rant. (y)

Russia always said their war games in that region would end around the 20th Feb.

Truth is Boris and Biden are DESPERATE to go to war with Russia regardless of what Russia does, Russia could move all their troops/tanks etc 500/ 1000 miles away from the Ukraine border and still Boris and sleepy Joe would say that means they are going to invade Ukraine on Wens at 2 pm...

Biden claims he has concrete evidence that Russia are going to invade tomorrow, yet they will not show the Ukraine Gov this so called evidence, think that tells you all you need to know..................

And if Russia has moved some troops/ tanks away from the border and do not invade Ukraine tomorrow then both Boris and Biden will look like right idiots with the rubbish they are coming out with.

Idiot Truss was on TV this Morning telling Russia they had to stay away from a certain city/ port in the region, only problem is that said city/port has long been part of Russia!!

We have a UK government of absolute idiots..

No. Assuming the plan was to invade Ukraine then, IF Putin backs down, his only way of doing so whilst saving face, is to withdraw his assets from the ‘exercises’ and poke fun at the West for panicking at the sight of the Russian bear. IF that happens then it will be the best outcome for all, but don’t believe for one minute that that was necessarily his plan all along.

Without a (mild?) show of strength & preparation from the West, he would have rolled in as planned…and still might yet of course.

There is (was?) a need to show that ‘we’ would step up to support Ukraine if they requested assistance, and to let Putin know that he did not dictate who gets to join any western strategic alliances.

He probably waited too long if he really wanted to invade and lost the element of surprise. The longer he waited the response though sluggish at the start became larger. I'm pretty sure he didn't expect the west to want a fight but as it went on longer and the media hyped it up the west had no choice but to do a bit to provide a bit of support to the Ukraine whilst we don't want a war I don't think we could allow a sovereign state to be invaded by another and I also think once Russia waited they knew it was going to be a drawn out affair and once the world saw pictures of refugees and damaged towns they wouldn't be allowed to standby (Ukrainians are white) . Truth is when you cut off a country's revenue supply then they have to do something as soon as we put pressure on China with sanctions and reduce the amount of goods we buy from them thus making their people poorer and angry then they'll be looking to divert attention elsewhere with a bit of military activity.

The truth is Putin never had any intention of invading it was just a negotiating ploy to try & get concessions which he has more than likely received, Biden & Johnson are very much aware of this but for their own purely political expediency played up the threat playing what could have been a very dangerous game of chicken, we are governed by morons!

45% of the EU's gas comes from Russia, 25% of their oil, do you really think he was ever going to start a war & cut off Russia's main customer & income it would seem a pretty stupid idea to me, he's not stupid he knows he had the West by the short hairs as the West/EU could not afford to risk losing that energy supply in any war so would give concessions eventually whether publicly or privately .
There was no show of strength from the West other than the "threat" of sanctions, like what are they going to do stop buying energy from him & collapse their economies?

If you can get a hold of yesterdays comment section in The Times written by William Hague, its well worth reading and puts a different take on things. Its hard to argue against much of what he has written. Have you read this @Danllan ?

I see Nigel Farage in the Telegraph is calling Putin a master politician and saying that the Ukraine should never be allowed to join Nato. I'd be quite willing to fly the membership papers out to Kiev if he's against it.
It is actually a good bluff to call Putin out if NATO and the EU stated they would never allow the Ukraine to join and would sign up to that.
(Not saying we should never give them aid though).

On the other hand.
Maybe we should offer Putin NATO membership to help fend off those pesky chinks.
I know you're joking but a russia china war isnt unlikely at some point, china would love to get its hands on all the resources in Russia and direct land access, they might think the west wouldnt be that concerned if they took a chunk of russia, it would certainly give the west a hard choice

I’d say Vladimir we are really sorry. We need your gas and oil and we like your money in the city so Ukraine can never join NATO. However I’d sign any treaty with Ukraine that said if you come under attack from Russia, Belarus or even the Isle of Man we’ll come to your aid. Obviously that won’t go down well either but at least they aren’t in NATO and while I was at it I’d be looking for any form of energy that doesn’t make me reliant on unfriendly neighbours and by now everyone might get the idea that a bit of self sufficiency isn’t a bad thing.
