Bought a 3metre one last year and to be honest I’m a bit unimpressed. It’s a Logic brush type but it’s not as effective as spraying. I used it for nettle/thistles and maybe I’ve not got the hang of it but it misses the low stuff.

We’ve a Blaney,Quad X brand,6m tractor mounted.

Would I buy one again....not sure.

They are expensive and ours has way too much in the way of electronics which don‘t really make it any more effective, just stuff to go wrong.

Chassis on it had to be seriously welded as it just fell apart due to bad fabrication and welding, one of the arms which hold the unit broke on the pivot, again due to bad fabrication.

So overall not brilliant.

Its like this one where we bought ours and he still has one or two knocking around.

Second hand,suppose not bad value.

I’ve just bought a Chapman (improved version of the Logic type IMO). After delays at the dealership (certainly not by @chapmanmachinery I should add), I’ve only just picked it up & too late to use now. Hoping to save some time & spray next year.

Trailed behind a quad and only 3m though, like most.

Just one large roller, or with bristles like the Logic if you want to pay the extra, contra-rotated by an electric motor.
That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking about, the electric motor looks the clincher over the ground driven logic, I’m assuming you can whip around between patches of rushes etc without spraying roundup everywhere.

What’s your initial impression with build? Be interested to see how you get on with it.

That was the idea I liked most about it. The rotor rotates at a constant speed, rather than whirling round splattering chems everywhere when you move between patches or fields, and will keep rotating slowly when you stop to open a gate, instead of letting the loaded roller drip when it stands still.👍

Very impressed with build quality, and priced very competitively against a Logic, even if you opt for the Logic type brush roller (+£700).

2.4 m . 🤓

Wouldnt take awful lot to convert a ground drive one to electric I should think, will take extra power though what with the pump as well...

I think mine needs a new carpet as well.

Yes, you could certainly buy a more expensive ground driven one and set about converting it to electric.:scratchhead: It’s only a small 12v motor, driven through a similar belt to the Logic ground drive. But yes, it will obviously take a couple of watts more power, is that an issue?

The rotor is also 4” narrower than the Logic one. So sorry, yes only 8’ working width.

I already have a port agric. Ground / belt driven one , had it for years. ....its been used 'sporadically' not intensively  .. but quite good in some situations.

Might be handy to have a pic of the motor and drive 😬

Not that I would copy its design of course ... :sneaky:

The Electrics might be strained , not sure.

i don’t think it would be fair to post a photo for the purposes of ripping off the design, but there are lots of close up pictures on the Chapman website.... https://chapman.co.uk/agricultural-machinery/weed-wiper/
