What would one expect from a 2nd hand machinery purchase.

Shouldn't have been sold with a badly leaking ram. That's not acceptable IMO.

The telehandler issue, dealer may not be aware. Mine does exactly the same. Opens and closes locking pins fine. But we'd had it a month before we put a grab on to discover it closes on its own
Oh ok. I'd have thought maybe with the ram that is my tough sh!t.

You are right in that the dealer might not had known about the self closing grab. Of course that does rather interfere with its usability

who sells a fert spreader sold as seen? are they really that complicated?

the cynic in me says they could not be arsed resealing the ram? :cautious:

sold as seen is exactly that though your issue now... although i agree with dave w its a bit poor passing that out in that state.

not really sure on handler though, sounds like the passing spool makes it not really fit for purpose to me.

But it's not though is it ?

You look at a fert spreader, everything ' seen ' looks fine. You buy it, take it home and once connected the ram leaks, well that was certainly not seen.

It's very frustrating reading these threads, as you either buy with terms and conditions (eg limited warranty) or not, when the words above should be used, then no grey areas.

All to often, nothing is agreed, something go's wrong, then an argument starts. (or another of these threads)

Not pointing the finger at the OP, but if anyone buys a used machine without looking at it before hand, I’d expect them to be disappointed with it 9 times out of 10. And they shouldn’t expect much sympathy from the forum if they can’t be bothered to spend a days driving before they realise their expectations exceed reality.

The statement 'sold as seen' went out with Nohas' Ark unless they include. The very specific words are " no warranty implied or given" and only then if you agreed to those terms.

Apologies. Just looked at the imvoive and it doesn't say Sold as Seen, I was mistaken. Used machine Warranty with it. đź‘Ť

I did look at them both đź‘Ť

Irony being I've only bought 3 machines myself and the one I didnt bother looking at and was Sold As Sold from a private sale is an absolute beaut!

I'll just say what the problems are, otherwise there is no context to it.
N.b I am not complaining - probably not the right word to of used in the OP. I am just merely asking what people expect from used machines.
I haven't spoken to either dealer yet or maybe will not. I am not "slagging" them off as the service was good from both off them.
All issues are probably solved straightforward.

Fertiliser spinner, left hand opening ram leaks - alot.

Telehandler. A few things I didnt notice when a viewed, but they are all things with age. However - grabs won't stay open. They will close on gravity, this obviously interferes will its functionality.
Cab fan. Didn't work when I viewed but was told it would be. It certainly works but no air actually comes through the vents.

🙂
The self closing grab may be that attachments need to be fitted with a check valve, Merlo and Cat handlers need check valves on grabs etc and possibly some other brands do as well

This cuts both ways. All to often I have heard of people looking at a bit a s/h kit, shaking the salesman's hand as sold in working order.

Then the invoice arrives a week or two later with the words 'sold as seen ' or 'no warranty ' or similar on it.

That is not fair or reasonable either if a machine is sold in working order, and for whatever reason turns out not to be. A badly leaking ram could very well fall into that category, as any oil leaking onto the ground has very serious environmental liabilities I'm afraid.
