Evening all,
First time poster long time reader.
Anyway our current trailed JD 740 has given up the ghost and we are now looking for a replacemet.
As we are a mixed farm growing cereals winter and spring plus potatoes and then weed spray on grassland etc.
We are currently at 24m and looking to go to 36m, we also dont really like have a tractor tied up all summer on row crops as we make silage, hay etc so not ideal so like the idea of a self-propelled, budget of 50 to 60k.
What is the best machine to go for? Like the look of the agrifac but would appreciated the advice from yourselves that has more experience than us for a SP machine.
Many thanks
James

Wouldn’t touch a second hand agrifac, will be expensive running. Brilliant sprayers new but a lot of complicated electronics to go wrong. Bateman would be my shout.

Agrifac refurb a lot of older machines. Might be worth talking to them. The older ones round our area seem very reliable, and the increasing number of new ones. They’re actually quite basic, but you can add a lot of wizardry obviously.

Can’t imagine you would pick up a proper refurb one for the ops budget.

Would not really agree with that, the older ones are better than the new. If you could stretch to a nice condor 3, they go like a dream 👌

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
