Just to add this 10 mm has brought us up to 32 mm since the 1st March and half of that fell in the first few days of March!

Whats happened to the washout summer some were predicting?.Feck all here Another two weeks of this and grass will all be gone!
I can’t complain too much as we caught 59mm in April and that’s kept things going, it’s starting to run out now though !!

Still time for a washout, no one has started combining yet...

:sneaky::sneaky:

Whether we get 5mm, 9mm or 59mm here in the next week, two weeks or however many weeks it is still before harvest, it won't make a lot of difference.

Crops are now using moisture from 5-10" deep, some soils still have some and some don't, others never did, but 2" or so of rain won't fix it.

5" of rain, which is what's now needed to restore field capacity, at this late date would result only in a luxuriance of green tillers and big trouble in store.

In the middle.
We've managed about 2mm in the last 3 days and half of that came of the edge of a thunderstorm about midday today. But you can still kick up dust in the yard just walking about.

3mm yesterday morning in the gauge and same again today, but I’ve had a couple of heavy showers this morning with hail and a rumble of thunder. Wind getting stronger too.

Up to 9mm here now but suns out and blowing a gale so it’s getting sucked away but thankful for what we had.maybe my wild bird seed mixes will germinate.all the non drilled weeds look great but what I’ve drilled still sits in dust and clods

I think we are at 8mm over last couple of days. If we could manage the same again over the next couple I would be a lot happier than I was this time last week.......

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
