All good for a change.
Harvest done, baled and stacked.
Steady rain all soaking in.
Not sure how much over night .
But no water in here before..

You must have missed serious rain.

@Shovelhands is spreading in Essex and is in a bit of a quagmire after sludge spreaders have been on the place.
Zero in mid essex. Land like concrete. All tractors parked up as cant do anything. Hearing of lots of the Irish lads that come over to help on local estates have all gone home as no work. Crazy for mid August. Absolutely gutted waking up today to still no rain. Need a good soaking. 25mm will have disappeared within 24hrs.

In keeping with the 'let's complain about anything' credo.

Today we definitely had the wrong type of rain, first for 8 weeks or so here. 18mm in a few minutes.

Over topped a gutter in the grainstore, first time in 15 years since it was built.

Nevertheless we now have mud instead of dust, people 3 miles away didn't get any.

Did you catch that stream of storms this afternoon? It looked pretty grim your side of the river. Not a drop here!
Naff all here in South Essex really, Missed the torrential stuff by 4 miles. Only got enough to barely dampen the dust. Could do with a week of nice steady rain and then dry for a few weeks again. None of this Dry till October @Cab-over Pete thank you!!!
I went over to Stanford-no-Hope earlier and the roads were wet, but met up with someone who'd come from Benfleet, which was dry.

Nothing at all here today, I stopped cultivating as I was sure that it was going to pour down and I was an inconvenient distance away to be caught in the rain. Seemed to go all around us.

26mm here today at last check, seeing pictures of Bures (next village for non locals) flooded across the roads.

Nothing at all again, was wet at the top of brock hill which is around 2 miles from the farm as the crow flies.

This past week I’ve driven from one dry job to the next, through torrential rain, on more than one occasion! That day I unfortunately had to follow the sludge boys I didn’t have a drop, which was welcome as the place was wet enough, esp with sludge freshly applied! But just a few hundred yards outside the farm gate the road was wet! Five minutes away flooded roads! And yet my afternoon was spent in clouds of dust, at a place which to my knowledge hasn’t had a drop yet! Which is handy as I’ve not finished there......

I have had 25 mm in the yard but one end of one of my fields about a mile away is a desert still.

I saw you working next to my home last week but didn't have time to come down and say hello and you were busy too, nice to see you posting again

Not a drop yet in Tollesbury as far as I could see yesterday. I very near got stuck the other day, not too far away from you, later that day on another farm it was desert storm!

Yes I dashed in to Kings Head, was sticky there first thing! Then finished a job the other side of the reservoir, got rained on, only enough to e annoying though! Still can’t believe how lucky I’ve been last week! Although the sludge fiasco soon dampened my spirits and heavy shower on Thursday, near tiptree, saw some sticky going and was enough to have to stop. But half our later the sun was out and normal service resumed!
