That report can’t be true as most dealers say they’re mega busy and no time to respond to enquiries

YAMS had a lot of footfall last week...Plenty there & car parks were full to bursting, folk having to park on the verges

Can't imagine us buying another new tractor again, I'll just get a price to swap, usually 25-30k and go and buy a decent second hand tractor with that same money, warranty is an expensive luxury

You can see where JD are coming from!
25-30 years ago a now long time retired machinery salesman said to me that eventually it would end up similar to CAT & Finning model.
Predicted there being one place for each brand you could go to buy them, then a network of service centres for repairs.

I don’t think he will end up being far of the mark.

No one wants to admit things aren't going well, plus I guess if people think everyone's spending money, they might think they should be too. Bit of psychology by the dealers?

Number of units registered is declining, but I suspect that the total horsepower is increasing.

50 years ago the rule was 10hp per furrow (3x 10 in furrows=30hp) so a 7 furrow 16 in plough would be 112hp. Seems to be at least double that now.

an old dealer said to me 30 year ago the same as above, like a supermarket, each counter selling different brands,
and i can see it coming in years to come,
also can see very small workshop at back of sales counter, complete with a couple of loan tractors, any thing big will be sent to a central workshop for specialist repair while a loan tractor is left with you

Yep,i can see lots of dealers struggling,at one dealers yard I was in the other day,nothing in the workshop at all.High hourly rates,poor autumn,subsidies winding down,very little going on at all.

Once BPS go's & whatever farce this ELMS turns out too be the machinery world is in for a right wake up call.
The Value we all place on Money has just went crazy but all the wrong way
World needs a massive hunger it pains me to say it & i hope we dont ever see it.

Tractors alone are £25k too dear & thats on a £100k one.
But Implements are nearly a worser offender atm

Doesn't seem to be affecting s/h asking prices, and there seems little spirit for taking less either.
Really tidy low hours secondhand are getting dearer. Was a 220hp Massey in FG that was low hours and immaculate at what many would have thought silly money, compared to underwrite offers, but it sold to first man to see it. Cannot see that changing, because gear to do a perfectly adequate job in a semi retirement situation for many years to come, is a fraction of new replacement cost. It is getting a job to find them, and owners are keeping them rather than pay stupid money to change fir a machine to essentially perform the same tasks.
