I bale what we need ourselves, chop the rest. It's not immediately incorporated, left until ploughing (Which we do later than pretty much everyone round here) by which time it's nearly all gone due to the earth worms. Our land is lovely and friable thanks to that and minimal straw offtake.
And yes we could do straw for muck.....and import blackgrass which considering half the farm grows seed crops would outweight the premium we get and straw we could have sold 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️what do I know🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I will say , in 2019 we had to chop the last 15 acres of straw , jeez it makes the job easy .

It does make it easy but I dislike chopping as I can’t see how well I’m threshing the crop. I find I tend to over thresh the straw when chopping causing more losses
