1 mile to school. Lazy f**kers.

Missus does short runs in a TDCI focus.

Limp Mode.... Codes read. DPF Full.

Forced regeneration wouldn't work New Sensor and 2 Forced regens later the DPF showing as 10% empty.

It has a good tonking now every few weeks on the motorway with 100 mile trips.

Would you have a diesel again then or has it put you off?

No, not at all... It's just a case of running it for a decent trip once in a while.

One car here does decent Miles... Mostly Mine. Hers does short trips and we had the limp mode and clogged DPF and I couldn't force a regen. Needed a new sensor then I could force a regen and have been fine ever since.... Just needs a good run now and then.

Ref mums keeping engine running, try going to supermarket i bet you will find the old man doing the same thing winter keeping warm, summer keeping cool while his other half is shopping then wheeling out trolley unloading into car while he complains of a draft because the door is open.
OK off topic but why would you go to the supermarket and sit in the car?
It tends to be a one person project in the KP house, usually done by me (went yesterday) got all my other in town errands done too so I don't need to get the car out for a while (y)
If I do the groceries at the weekend its in Mrs Poms car, as its a company vehicle and we don't pay the fuel bill:cool:

Why go to the supermarket and sit in the car while wife does shop?
well lets list it
1 watch the young yummy mummies
2 watching young yummy mummies park mega SUV in average supermarket car park space
3 watch aged pensioner try to park in that tight space two YMMs have left between their mega SUVs despite the fact the rest of the car park is empty apart from me.
4 best of all watch that YMM parking her Aston at the back of the car park 😂

1.6 tdci focus here as the runaround, rarely does anything but short journeys of around 2-6 miles. Never once thrown a DPF error in almost 10 years and 80k miles.

I think its down to the DPF location, its tucked up against the front of engine straight after the turbo exit In this engine, so gets up to working temperature quickly - avoid any vehicle’s where its tucked up in the transmission tunnel under the car, these are the ones that tend to give far more DPF issues.

Avoid DPF on vehicles doing short journeys like the plague. We had a Tiguan and I'd to take it for a thrashing to clear the DPF filter. 10 miles at 50mph to clear it, but I needed to go another 10 miles to find a road to do it on.
The Peugeot HDIs of a few years back could give problems on continuous short journey work.

just buy
Cheers for that I will avoid them then 👍 I'm now looking at vauxhall mokka x petrol let me know if u heard owt bad about them
if your looking at mokka diesel 2 lt 16 valve
look at suzuki sx4 same engine
we on second one ,
derv doctor tuned , stage 1
egr dpf blank ,
maybe not the most street cred motor , but quick as f k , and bit higher and 4 wd handy for field trips
find a petrol one or diesel and have it done

Do you know the issues ? i was told it is the timing belt if not serviced properly as it runs in oil ?? We have just got our second 1.0 ecoboost first was a 140 bhp and now we've got a 155 mild hybrid they have both been very impressive !!
Yes I think you are correct. It is a while ago I was talking to him but it might when they are slightly older and folk cut corners on oil?

my son (mechanic) said the problem was poor servicing which led to the oil pickup strainer blocking resulting in oil starvation. so service at shorter than recommended intervals.
