I recently managed to break the windscreen on my telehandler. I called the NFU to get it sorted they said get it fixed and send us the bill. There’s a £70 execes .
Got it sorted pretty quickly and eventually emailed the invoice to the NFU sand a day later they paid the money directly into my account.
Usually with glass you pay the excess and Vat on day, rest gets billed direct to insurer.

Never paid out to be reimbursed later here

Exactly what happened but taking a bit more time to get paid

what other companies do you have experience of ?

someone bumped my wife’s car a few weeks ago - she got a lovely new range rover courtesy car that came with a big bunch of flowers. ……… cheapo Churchill insurance were the 3rd party company paying her out, couldn’t have been more helpful, assigned a direct claim manager, they even covered the cost of fuel she used for a month and we weren’t even their customer !

since we left nfu (saving 30k per year). i have used F&M and Acres - have had claims with both and both dealt with things better than nfu

i insure our cars with various companies over the years - all have paid out when required ……. it’s kind of what insurance companies do !

took NFU a VERY long time and a big battle to pay out on a grain dryer fire here - have never such a bad experience with other insurance companies

would never use them again
Never had any problems with them myself. I’m not a member of the NFU or ever will be. The agent used to bring me membership forms when doing an insurance review already filled out just for me to sign and dot the eyes etc . They all ended up in the bin . She’s given up now

Because you paid for the premium for an equivalent vehicle.
Some policies do not state that and have lower premiums.

You get what you are willing to pay for.
The 3rd party company have nothing to do with what vehicle you get. That's why you have insurance

Many over the years from direct line and brokers for private cars usually a bit of a Faf when making a claim. When I left the family business and went on my own I stuck the vehicles on with the NFU sand have been more than happy with them. Personal service no call centres no spending half a day on hold to South Africa or India call centres

wasn’t my claim, didn’t even involve my insurance company - we were the 3rd party with blake accepted/ well witnessed

don’t ever claim via your insurance if you are the 3rd party ! it will count as a claim and cost you in future years even though not your fault - deal directly with the insured underwriters in this case Churchill who were brilliant

They won't pay out until its clear in the assessors eyes where the fault/blame lies.

Obviously it wasn't crystal clear.

Unlike a car accident where there are two parties involved they both pay out and then try to find out where the blame lies.

you have a very different NFU experience to me

moving 6 years ago has saved us near 20@k and we have more comprehensive cover and better service

F&M we’re good but can’t recommend @Nigel Wellings from Acres and his team highly enough - personal and very knowledgable service

i cover our cars with various others however - cheaper / better than any of the farm insurers can offer as it’s their specialty

Parish Council did this,
Vehicle struck power cable going to shop.
Left it in hands of WPD and company owning Vehicle.
Liability wasn't admitted by either party.
Parish Council (us) ended up paying out of own pocket for repair as it was too long ago to now claim.

If your not at fault you NCD isn't affected
