That I don't know tbh and she's only had hers 1 a year or so. I suspect that aftermarket conversions could have issues ( I'm thinking like the switch from leaded to unleaded and valve sets etc) but the Dacia is a proper factory job. Main problem is availability of autogas but when she bough hers it was same price as the petrol version and there's a garage selling it near by. She came from a 1.1 car and said its loads cheaper to run so it must be cheap.
Sure just get a tank in for a "grain dryer" and job sorted

Just google mazda 2.2 diesel problems. The root cause is injector seals and worn injectors causing oil dilution. Also a rivet that drops of in the flap between the wee turbo and the big one.

Unfortunately the internet diagnosed the injector problem (incorrectly) as failed regen due to low miles driving so most cars were never sorted properly.
Ah I see, diesel, mine (and I suspect the majority here) are petrol as there's no real benefit to diesel as far as I can tell, unless doing big KM's as diesel fuel is taxed differently here.
I was warned off the diesels by the dealer.

What's up with the CX5? I'm on number 2 and never had any bother, is it diesel? They're very popular here.
Brake pipes rotted away, rear exhaust box fell apart, no one supplied after market was forced to go to main dealer £638.
Coil failed , now has dash board full of warning lights again and no power. (Same symptoms as coil issue) it's a petrol, serviced and well looked after ,seems 90k Miles was the turning point for stuff going wrong ,up to then it was no bother.

We have a Seat Ateca 2.0l Diesel 4drive lux.
Lovely medium size SUV
Based on the VW Tiguan platform.

i swapped nissan qashqai 1.5d for a Seat Ateca 1.6l petrol, its great really pleased with it. more leg room in the back than the qashqai had and a slightly better boot space. Petrol was a compromise at the time but actually with the short journeys we do it was the right thing to do, had it 12months almost, half tempted to swap in it for another the same just newer before they all go hybrid?

The nissan was good to us though, had it 11 years and was never any trouble apart from was always damp in side from a leak in the boot i could never find.

I find it so smooth and comfortable to drive and,as you say, plenty of leg room.Very nippy too especially in sports mode.
I was told to keep the rear door seals,at the bottom, clean as it's an area where grime builds up and rust can start. It's the flap at the bottom where the grime builds up between the rubber and metal.

Getting time to change, looking for small crossover ,suv , something I can step into not fall into and have to heave myself out. Don't want a ladder to get in either.
Reliable , comfortable, reasonable economy, and a spritely drive , want decent performance doesn't have to be fire-breathing but don't want to crawl about either.

As my teacher told me always read the question :) I'm not sure the XC fits that brief....
Er it fits it perfectly! Small (same size as focus ) don’t want a ladder (air suspension can be set to lower on entry ) reasonable economy. (Will get low 40’s ) decent performance… it’s a turbo Volvo (think police t5 from back in the day ) …. I still win

Didn't realise it was a competition :D The XC60 is a lot bigger than a focus. An XC40 maybe. And 40mpg, maybe on the motorway.

I like the XC60, the S60 was on my list when I was changing last time. There were crazy offers on S90s but I realised I didn't need a car the size of the QE2 and iwas under 50....

XC40 is a cool car, they also make a fully electric version of it now, too.

Seem to remember someone complaining they had a petrol one and the fuel tank was a bit on the small size.

Volvos are cool cars and very practical and nicely laid out. We (+ in-laws) have put hundreds of thousands of miles on several Volvos now. Good cars. Just bear in mind they don't have the same level of engine tech as you might expect from Audi, Merc or BMW. Other than that, not much in the way of downsides. The majority of them also go like a stabbed rat.

I'd vote for the Skoda Kodiaq, bought one in 2017, it's been a good car, needed a new battery under warranty (VAG had a batch of bad batteries) and a glow plug in 80,000 miles, other than that it's just been standard wear items and servicing, super comfortable, goes well, does 45mpg (2.0tdi) even with the current mrs JMM's lead right boot, and it sticks to the road like glue. To be fair anything built on the VAG MQB platform will be similar.

That's the problem with most diesels these days. There's a spot between 80 - 120k when they can cost BIG money. BMW and Merc timing chains, Injectors (everything), Adblue pumps, EGR, DPF, Injector seals you name it. Diesels over 80k are always a gamble. sometimes you win others you don't
Learned that with the 1.6 tdi vw engine. Should have a complete injector change around 100k miles at a cost of £1k. Who is going to lay out on that on a ten year old motor?
Once replaced though it will go to 200k miles without fuss. But a painful outlay none the less.
