    Fattening beef cattle,

What do folks use to fatten cattle? currently on home grown barley milled up with protein and molasses added. It works but it’s not cheap. what does everyone else use? KW Alternative seeds? Is there other similar companies out there selling such stuff? or something else entirely? cheers.

    Storing liquid feed

Now I know the traditional way is in tanks - which is fine until the material starts solidifying … and if you can get one handy - but has anyone tried storing liquids in a shallow purpose built lagoon from which you could bucket it out?

    Will a cow self regulate?

Just trying to work out rationing for this winter there will be a bit of a gap between the highest and lowest producers and we’ve only got batch feeders. At very least to start with we really don’t want two groups potentially be forced into it as winter progresses but would like to run as one...

How fast do you run your shafts?

We seem to go through ups on the mixer wagon way more often than we should. I tend to mix it at about 350rpm but it’s been suggested that this could be putting more strain on and we need to rev to 540rpm which seems rather excessive to me. would running lower revs add more strain?

    IH B275 project

Aquired this a couple weeks back, never had much to do with IH tractors but fancied something a bit different to the classic fergi's that I am more accustomed to. Its an ex scraper that needs plenty of work, but engine starts and runs very well. Its an early B275, and at some point it seems to...
