A bill for warranty work

Not very, guess it would have taken me about a half hour or so
but on a new item sent out wrong and going in for other warranty work, thought it would have been sorted out🤷‍♂️
From this and re reading first post deffo taking the pi**. The only reason i mentioned doing it yourself was if it had been the only issue to trail someone out to sort it if were something you could relatively do yourself could get you labelled as a pain in the ar*e from their point of view and do more harm than good longer term (even though it should be right when it comes). I'd still let them know about it and that you've sorted it yourself in case it's one if their staff cutting corners. Matters not in your case give em hell.

Long time ago , but local dealer in the 70 s . My Dad gets a bill from them for a wheel Barrow, from about 5 weeks earlier . He phones up same day and explains or rather asks why he had the bill as he had never bought a wheel Barrow from them . Lady says , ah ok , sorry must be a mistake , we will credit you .
Couple weeks later , my sister goes to do weeks work experience at said dealer including the finance department . She comes home one day to tell dad about the wheel barrow story. Apparently, they sold one wheel Barrow on a certain day but for some reason , no body could remember who it was but that the surname was D . So the boss told the finance dept to add a wheel Barrow to all customers Bill's with a D surname and apparently they ended up getting paid for 9 barrows as people did NT check their bills very well !!
similar happened many years ago in the local builders merchants ,could remember who had a sink and pedestal ,billed every account holder ,got paid 7 times for it >

Bought a new item in August
Soon noticed 2 smallish faults, rang salesman he said "dont worry we'll get it in look at it"
Before it was collected noticed something else adjusted wrong (imo a pdi issue)
Mentioned that too ,"no problem" I was told "sort it same time"

Invoice landed yesterday for the adjustment and transport🤔
No mention of the other 2 issues ...but they arnt resolved

Personally I think that's a bit cheeky🤬
Sounds like a dealer local to me..but probably not...or you would have a bill for £300 of workshop sundries on top!

we had a solicitors letter, threatening court, if we didn't pay in 14 days. We had used this haulage firm once, two years prior, to bring ewe lambs down, from 'upcountry'. Certain we had paid, so, dig through old accounts, bank statements etc, and yes, we had paid. Rung them up, with all the details, absolutely fine, they said, someone hadn't paid, they didn't know who, so if sent solicitors letter, everyone who had paid, would ring up, the one that hadn't, would be found by default, or a cheque. Peed me off, at the time, because it was a faff to get all the stuff, to prove we had, upon reflection, not a bad idea.

I have had similar to the OP, new machine fault from within a few weeks of delivery. Took ages to be fixed then I get a bill.
Had the “you bought the wrong warranty” conversation.

Not impressed

One of the dealers we deal with has a system that needs to appoint the bill until its payed. So warranty gets put on the customers bill with a W beside it until the manufacturer pays it.

It is shocking how little idea some people have of their finances. We had a haulier a small family firm, who put in a polite reminder about a bill for a lot of work done 3 years previous. We had paid them promptly at the time, luckily we had all the paperwork. But I wonder how they could be in that situation to not know how this large sum went.

Once you know how the system works it's not a problem when the bill comes just knock off anything with a W beside it. It also shows how much the warranty bill is, often you will never know.
does the manufacturer pay the same labour rate as everyone else or a reduced rate?
