Just been informed that oat husk will be like hens teeth! Looking at the possibility of grinding straw and putting through a bobman! I see a few of you are using teagles! What models and chop length are you getting? Is everyone still happily using this system? Or is the Rota grind a better job? Many thanks for any help/info
I have a Teagle 8550, short chop is grand for putting in a ration but far too long for cubicle bedding if thinking of a replacement for oat husks through a dispenser, I’ve got the machine and wouldn’t even contemplate trying it, it just wouldn’t work………that’s through an ag dispenser but I doubt any other dispenser would do it either.Just been informed that oat husk will be like hens teeth! Papper bedding by 8 wheel or artic. Either from envirobed or veolia.
Why didn't you buy the hay buster? Seems the tteagle for a farm is a bit too expensiveTeagle C12 Tomahawk Calibrator will mill straw to virtual dust depending what screen you put it and the HP in front but new are a tasty £91k list
Haybuster similar but cheaper at £60k although RVW Pugh have a secondhand one up for £23
Energis have some refurbed rotagrinds for around £17k but they are a crude mill with a chop of about 30mm or larger. Best for getting straw in to dry cows, heifers etc whilst the former two would mill straw for bedding.
However, you’d want at least 2 artic loads if you get a contractor in plus covered space to store the stuff
Terrified of his tax bill with the quality coming out of the jerseysWhy didn't you buy the hay buster? Seems the tteagle for a farm is a bit too expensive

I think Martin Evans has got a teagle now, other end of the county to you but they’re not usually shy on distancesLocal contractor is no longer doing it! He has a rota grinder that chopped some for feeding a few years ago! Felt a bit long for bedding! Tried enegis! No second hand ones left! Says the haybuster wil grind shorter! I want to try straw as we have some on farm and we have a slurry digester that would frighten me to put paper in! Does anyone know of a contractor that covers s.Shropshire that would grind/chop straw to try?
A necessary evilYou pay tax?
Already done it. No more hock damage, massively reduced mastitis cases. Slurry system is fine just needed slurry bugs and a good mix before pumping.Dont do it! Clogs up your slurry system and potentially full of tiny pieces of plastic!
Teagle 505 or 606m with a small screen in the mill will get it small enough
Drum Tomahawk 404M, 505M, 505XLM Straw Mill | Teagle
Teagle's Drum Tomahawk straw mills produce consistently short material from dry bales.www.teaglemachinery.com
RS agri chopper blower looks decent but different animal to the Teagle
