Any come back on this dead beast ?

Bought this heifer out of a market in January this year. Wasn’t quite happy with her after a week or so, thought she may of had pneumonia as a calf, but hoped she’d be ok and it would be a none issue. She never “did “ like the rest and now has died.

Went to clear her up and noticed she had been stitched up underneath ( see picture ) most likely ruptured as a calf.

Do i take it on the chin or should I ask for a refund ? None of this was mentioned at the point of sale.

I would be grateful for any opinions.

Did you query with the mart/seller it after the first week?
I think after 10 months her warranty as well as her has expired sadly.

I think the time has passed for comeback.
Bit disappointing though, as a seller of stores I would have kept it and fattened it myself. But probably a genuine sale.

Buyer beware I was always told. Guess in a ring you couldn't inspect effectively.

It's rather sneaky of the seller in my opinion, as they knew what they were selling.

First thing you need to do is get your vet out and do a PM to find the cause of death.

Then once you know that go from there.

No didn’t think there was much point after the first week. Thought it would go down as pneumonia, which goes with the territory when buying store cattle.
it looked ok enough at that time just subtle things made me think she wasn’t quite right.

How was it sold to you then?

Like every other beast, occasionally one will come through the ring ,that has an issue,and the auctioneer will announce sold as seen. That didn’t happen.

First thing you need to do is get your vet out and do a PM to find the cause of death.

Then once you know that go from there.

Lose even more money with vets fees!! Get her away and forget about her.

Just have to take it on the chin .you could get the vet out to do a pm but it's probably a waste of time.

I wouldn't bother asking a vet for a PM, you've lost enough already, a good knacker man might give you a clue though.

We all get them unfortunately, the joys of livestock, get rid move on.
I can't imagine any mart comeback now, with some marts it's hard enough if one dies within a week !

On the chin I'm afraid, but I would send pic to auctioneers and vendor, just politely explain that you take a pretty dim view, with that sort of operation, you would expect it to be declared.
