Big fire by Kiddington today, not sure if combine started it, but smoke plume started black, and was huge for a while; must have been fair area burnt.

Looked a huge fire this afternoon up on the downs, could see it clearly from down here, lasted a fair while too, looked nasty
Spotted from here as well. Opposite side of Devizes. Fingers crossed the plain doesn’t catch fire again this week after what it was like the other week

Just saw a friends FB post on this, no one hurt, nothing other than crop damaged but a swift response from neighbours cultivating fire breaks and the fire crews, machinery + flint was the reported cause

2 not far away from me yesterday, as far as I know nobody hurt and kit ok. Was combining at my other farm on Saturday and from the top we saw 4 fires the furthest probably 10 miles away. Then on Sunday had some smouldering chaff under a gearbox. Fortunately the driver smelt it through the aircon and we were lucky. Finally a small fire on the Plain last night just along from me, a little area or grass all put out quickly.

I was wondering if it is safe to cultivate here, its common to see sparks from the flints.

Apparently there were a load of Chinese Lanterns released last night around here, didn't see them myself but a good friend did. Madness

Some twit had a firework display not far from here last night, I heard them popping off at about 9pm. I was told today it was announced on FB as a 'memorial' to someone who had died recently. What a typical 21st century selfish attitude - some we know and love has died so lets put lots of other people's lives and property at risk of fire to remember them by...... :banghead:
