Quick Q, is the CommandQuad on the M series John Deere the same as the direct drive on a r series.

anyone here driven a new M with the CommandQuad, what did you think of it .

I have both auto quad plus and command quad plus. I wont pay the extra money again for the command quad. Not worth the extra money in my opinion. Basically never use the auto function. The declutch brake is nice when baling but wont swing the decision for me.

No it’s not the same, command quad is still only 4 power shifts with ranges changes, direct drive is 8 speed powershift with 3 ranges. Direct drive is much smoother

But not many would reccommend buyin a direct drive as thers a reputation of needin expensive open heart surgery down the line. Iv been told theyr bad for oil leaks aswel but cant verify that

I did have a direct drive for 4 years 4000 hrs and it did have a bearing go on the input shaft at 3500hrs and it had been split twice before that for a check on a stud when it was new and the a oil leak. I think they are better now they’ll have all the problems sorted but I went autopower when I changed it

Yes think if ur puttin the extra money in go for the autopower but id rather have the oldstyle control layout with the single speed stick compared to the command arm. Me personally i like the new m series autopower but afaik its only available up to the 6140 and only 40k but am sure that bit could be changed with the laptop

It’s a shame they were un reliable as the gearbox it’s self was very good to use I liked it a lot it is the smoothest powershift I’d ever driven but I was afraid to buy another without power guard warranty so I went autopower with no powerguard warranty

Ive just part exchanged a 5 year old Direct Drive with 5500 hours, owned since new and it’s been completely faultless, not even an oil leak. It seems like the circlip issue is either an issue or it’s not. I wonder what it is that causes it.

Ive gone for autopower on the new one, but only becuase that’s what the operator preferred when we demo’d one in the autumn.

I have a 2019 6195m with commandquad.

As mentioned, it is not the same as the double clutch direct drive, but an autoquad with robotised group change.

As oppose to Dian, i would pay extra for the commandquad. I've never liked deeres gearchange in the powrquad and autoquad boxes.
I have only owned autopowr deeres untill this one, and i didn't like it at first, because of all the gearchanges, and the interrupted pull when the group gears are changed. But after 1,5 season i actually like it. I use it for a wide variety of work. Ploughing, cultivating, fertilizer spreading, raking, various trailer work, slurry mixing and driving my tmr mixer. 1500 hours so far.

I’m thinking of going green & just wondering which transmission to go for bearing in mind I don’t want to spend too much. From what I understand the horror stories regarding the direct drives are long gone now & have been modified. I don’t like the auto quad, it might b bomb proof but it’s like driving in the olden days. I’m looking at commandquad or direct drive. What’s everyone’s thoughts ??

If its reliable the direct drive is nice to drive, smooth and used values are less than any other jd equivelent

Deere's autopower is long proven and after any length of time in the cabin you'll be glad you had it. Road, field, in the yard on a loader, it's by far the best transmission so well thought out and developed now.
