Yup. At least that’s what I found when I googled it and what my accountant agreed with.

this is correct, i know because i bought one years ago. you can reclaim VAT on a defender station wagon, however on the old VED rules having rear seats meant that it was in the top band (£600 ish) rather than £260 ish that proper commerials/pickups pay. not sure how it would work under the new VED rules.

as for what to buy, dont buy a land rover. the obvious choice is a landcruiser commercial but like any other decent vehicles there is a hefty waiting list.
plated load on the landcruiser is under a ton so cant buy with rear seats but you can have them fitted after, as many people do with shogun commercials and discovery commercials

I’ve just been looking at a transit custom medium wheel base with seats in the back , to be fair value for money if not keeping for too long , almost tempted 😂 ….. like a big car with loads of space nicer sitting position and vat back win win

Make sure you research the “coca cola” ruling and proceed with caution. I wouldn’t do it.

Current farm vehicle is a 2020 Renault Trafic 'Sport 145hp', which can do everything I ask of it, except drive in snow.
There is an LSD option which would make it a whole 2wd, and hopefully give it some grip on packed snow.
A 'chippy' mate has a Transit Custom 'Trail' spec with a factory fitted Quaife LSD, but it cost him the thick end of £40k, Trafic was £18k plus vat.

Shame it doesn't tow 3500kg legally
crap “velvet” seats so a good set of seat covers will be vital. Not sure how they will actually tow like with a softer suspension compared to a pick up but will be a nicer ride in general.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
