I had a really nice conversation with a couple trespassing with their dog Sunday afternoon, I politely asked them to keep to the footpath and thanked them for not swearing at me or setting their dog on me, they said that's really bad I bet it's the young up country folk moving into the village No! it's the over 60s never had a young person swear at me or have their dog set on me .
The conclusion we came to was older people think their entitled to roam & do what they want.
Have had youngsters here paragliding & flying kites , they always make the effort to come & find me & ask.

Strange place for a rant about farmers but it's probably been going on a long time between the 2 parties .plus there's always a possibility that the farmer could be a knob and getting us all a bad name. But calling me and thousands of others some grunt without qualifications because we left school at 16 isn't on

I have lived all my life in rural areas. Firstly in East Staffordshire right next door to a dairy farmer and for the last 35 years in amongst crop yielding fields In north Essex. For a long time, we have never had an issue with the tractors working. But in recent years, we have had to endure contractors harvesting at 2am, grain lorries racing up and down our small road (7 ton limit), rude signs in the field opposite our house banning us (two households) from walking in the field which we have done for years, not causing any problems but fair enough as its private property. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. I will be doing my upmost to stop this ignorant and anti social behaviour though our MP and environmental health and Braintree District Council. These arrogant idiots do not own Little Maplestead and they should be ashamed of themselves. We have to go to work at 6am and being kept awake by some grunt who probably left school at 16 without any qualifications is wrong.
Your last sentence could be the worst sentence I have ever read. I would be absolutely ashamed to write such a thing. I have an apprenticeship, degree and I have also been in a field at 2am collecting bales many occasions and then got up at 6am to go to work sometimes never going to bed. Disgrace

That ‘grunt who probably left school at 16 without any qualifications’ is probably running a multi million pound business harvesting crops worth tens of thousands. However, unfortunately, due to very tight margins and adverse weather conditions I doubt they have much choice about working to 2am, they certainly aren’t doing it for fun or just to p you off. Even then I doubt they’re out there every day it’s probably only once a year.
Secondly I’m personally getting a bit tired of the ‘I was only walking round the outside of your field and not doing any harm’ attitude. I have a field next to some houses and the path worn down by people walking around it makes 1 acre out of a 20 acre field unproductive. It doesn’t look much when you’re standing on it and you’d probably wonder why I get upset about it but it’s amazing how much area it amounts too. The land is private and the public have no more rights to it than I would walking around in their garden, trampling their flower beds and tying the plastic bag of dog sh*t to their hedge.

Whats the chance that the rude signs are a farmer who has been firstly politely asking the op to not trespass, then firmly telling them, and now after years if this has decided its time to be direct. 2am harvesting, that's going to be only one or maybe two days a year, and let's face it we all really want to be in bed at 2am
7 tonne weight limit, unless there is a weak bridge involved in which case no one will take a 44 tonne artic over anyway all have the caveat "except for access"
In conclusion the op is a gobshite who needs some regular muckspreading on adjacent fields.

Most people I speak to around the farm, whether trespassing or not, are nice folk and understand that we have a job to do. Occasionally you get a 'gobshyte'.

I scarcely believe the language in this thread from both sides of the fence.

Come on you’ve all fallen for it slow traffic day what subject will create the most traffic I know a new member slagging of hard working farmers Jesus wept

Yep @Clive has to pay for his 3 month first class trip to the Costa del Sol somehow
I bet it’s jp1, bitter about getting let go, he’s made up a new profile to stir sh!t up in the hopes that he’ll be asked back to sort things out.

Don't let it get you down you are in Essex . It's an arable farm . Give them a few weeks and they will be all planted up and off ski-ing or shooting most days and you will have peace.......or you could sell up and move to the west or go up to the north where we are working those type of hours every week of the year !
You would soon get used to it .
Your trouble is it doesn't happen much and so you get up tight when it does .
What action would you take if the farmer started walking all over your garden without permission whenever he/she wanted ?

To be fair driving till 2am once a year in a particular field, how could they:whistle: they must be driving fendts as most other makes would be empty by then.;)

As for walking on other peoples ground, I have a woman living near me with 2 big choc labs, she,s been told several times to keep to footpaths but twice in the last month i,ve caught her on the field margins, always a lie about dogs running in there and i had to go and rescue them.
if you find a dog running loose in your field take it to the local dog pound
I believe they trace the owner and charge them ?£50 quid or so to collect it

once or twice of that and they’ll keep it on a lead

Sadly these days you can "prove" a nuisance and then you end up with restrictions. I've first hand experience of this in my little village

Pretty little place Little Maplestead but no longer truly rural
