Get off the M4 at jct 18(bath). Go right to the bottom of the A46 , just past Bath to the roundabout . Take the 3rd exit to Bradford on Avon. Through Bradford , then to Frome and onto Shepton Mallet.
Or off at J18, A46 past Dyrham Park, right and follow down over Lansdown to New Bridge, follow signs for A37 Shepton Mallet . Always the way I go

Depends on what you are driving. Bath has a clean air zone now. You are ok in a normal car , I think. But in a pickup it could cost you £9. I’m not sure how far it extends out from the centre.
